Not sure Its anything to do with Newcastle at all. Thats just media talk, the media also says Newcastle want the wolly with the brolly but Ashridge likes not to spend big, he will not get McClaren on the cheap and he will not offer Slav a mega bucks deal either.
Apparently McLaren told his players he was off to Newcastle weeks before the end of the season.... might explain a few things.

There is the possibility that family concerns will come before the money and SJ will leave us for a job in mainland Europe. The combination of his family being in Spain and his knowledge of how the Pozzos work, would almost make him an ideal candidate for the Granada job.

If we don't keep him then that is most likely I'd say.

Didn't they just replace their head coach three weeks ago though? Even by Pozzo standards, that would be a bit much - and scant reward for pulling off the almost impossible.

If SJ can't agree terms with us, why would it be any easier to agree with another Pozzo club?

It is understood Jokanovic, the man who led Watford to automatic promotion from the Championship after arriving in October, will not be in charge next season.
And sources say Flores, who has previously managed Valencia, Benfica and Atletico Madrid, is the club's preferred candidate on a three-man shortlist also featuring Roberto Di Matteo.
The former Chelsea boss is available after quitting German club Schalke on Tuesday, while Flores has been without a job since resigning from his second spell at Getafe in February.
An appointment at Vicarage Road is expected next week, but in the meantime Watford are pressing ahead with their summer recruitment.

Jokanovic is out of contract and despite finishing second in the Championship looks set to be replaced by the former Atletico Madrid manager

Watford look set to replace manager Slavisa Jokanovic despite the Serbian leading the Hornet to promotion to the Premier League, and are reported to be in talks with former Atletico Madrid manager Quique Flores.
Jokanovic became Watford’s fourth manager of the season when he replaced Billy McKinlay in October, with the Northern Irishman taking charge of just two matches. His appointment came off the back of Oscar Garcia’s resignation, with the Spaniard only taking the job in September having replaced Giuseppe Sannino.
Jokanovic’s arrival brought some stability to the club, and saw them mount a charge up the Championship table, culminating in a second-place finish and automatic promotion to the Premier League along with Bournemouth and play-off winners Norwich.

Slavisa Jokanovic looks like he'll be replaced as Watford manager However, Jokanovic was only signed on a contract until the end of the season, and he is reported to be extremely disappointed by Watford’s offer to extend his stay at Vicarage Road.
With the 46-year0old facing a surprise exit before the Premier League gets underway, the Daily Mail claim that Flores has emerged as the number one target for the Hornets, and an official approach is already said to have been made

Quique Flores is in talks to take the Watford job 50-year-old Flores learnt his trade at Real Madrid’s youth coach in 2001, before taking on jobs with Getafe in 2004 and Valencia a year later. He moved to Portugal in 2008 to take charge of Benfica before returning home to become manager of Atletico, where he remained in charge until 2011and won the Europa League with the likes of David De Gea and Sergio Aguero among his ranks. Flores subsequently moved to the Middle East to manage Al-Ahli and Al-Ain.
It’s believed he came close to taking the West Brom job 18 months ago when Steve Clarke was sacked, only to miss out on the job as Pepe Mel was given the reins, and his latest role came in a short return to Getafe, though he resigned after a month citing personal reasons for his early departure.

If Gestede is signed, could this be that Vydra who is on loan is not going to get a second chance at the prem? Could it be that FF is not going to stay?

Plenty to speculate on, but true to form not much news comes out of the club until deals are done.

I suppose it's a wait and see thing, but I'm not sure about this one. What few noises coming out of 'the family' suggest that their aim is more than survival - meaning players of a higher standard. I don't see Gestede in that category - good in the Championship, without a doubt, but wasn't he tried in the EPL with Cardiff and found wanting?

Be strange signing somebody without a manager!

Maybe Slav didn't like the way we did transfers - he did have a little pop in January I remember over the deals we did/didn't do.
