"David Luiz says he plans to stay a virgin until he marries." That does explain the barnet. "Chiellini says he bears no grudge against Suarez" and recommends himself in the future with a nice Chianti and some fava beans.
Teddy Sheringham strongly linked to his first managerial post, at Stevenage. So three guesses who we get drawn against in the FA Cup fourth round next season...
I see that Gazza has won over £188,000 in damages from The Mirror over phone hacking. In his case, I'm not sure if that's good news or bad!!
I think it's rough on the Real manager. They seemed to be walking away with everything until Modric and others were injured and out for a long time. Was this his fault? No.Real have to win or the owners will put the manager up against a wall. Who would have guessed how much Modric has meant to Real Madrid.I don't think, when all guns are firing, that Barcelona are as good as Real...........!
I think it's rough on Ancelotti. But, that's Real. He's done a very good job but has now "failed" in the eyes of the hierarchy. So, they'll hire the next great hope and when he doesn't live up to expectations, he'll get fired. And so it goes on.. Wait a minute, this is all starting to sound familiar!
It's not only familiar it's perfectly rational (sort of anyway). There is almost no test you can do to see if a manager is up to the task of improving a Club a lot. So you keep hiring likely candidates until one manages it. Things like continuity don't matter because your goal isn't a gradual change - it's what people call a 'quantum leap*' that is required. * Of course in physics a 'quantum leap' is actually the smallest allowable change.........
I'm not sure that logic applies to football though. A team requires continuity as well as good management of resources. Constant changes of management, playing styles and philosophies, and probably playing staff too, is disruptive, IMO. Ancelotti could hardly have done any better last season, but this year a combination of factors internal and extraneous, have conspired to leave his team in Barca's wake. I'm sure he will most likely get the chop. I just think it's the wrong decision. But, typical of Real.
Maybe it looks better on... Paddy Power Italia have found the inspiration: Our home kit's white and navy blue and our away kit's blue and black or white and gold or...
"Big Sam not having his contract renewed" He was kicked out by one of their players not long after FT. But cannot be interviewed as he has not returned to pitch level yet.
Swindon lost 0-4 to Preston today with 67% possession. Wenger take note. Stats are bunk. Having a lot of possession isn't everything.
