Well we're not are we? We had a mediocre first season, superb second season and not too bad third season albeit missing out on a cl place. Next season will be crucial and a real indication of where we are going and whether or not we are indeed getting 'more and more' mediocre as you say.. And I'm someone who's never been sold on Rodgers.

Same, I wasn't a big fan of Brod and didn't want us to appoint him but he was appointed so got my backing. Its weird that I now find myself defending a lot on here despite me knowing he has many faults too.

Rodgers could show some strength by getting rid of Sterling, it would be a start and the fans would be very happy with a show of strength and a statement along the lines of "if you don't want to play for Liverpool then off you go".

I think he did that when he refused to let Suarez go even though it was the owners also playing tough, it was a real show of how we wouldn't let players mess us about. But I also agree what you say about Sterling. <ok>

Yeah it's similar to the Suarez option just with the opposite action needed.

Not too bad? It's been awful - this is arguably worse than his first season given he spent £100m in the summer, and playing in the worst PL in history. Our points tally is not far off Roy/Kenny's season.

Personally, I don't think the squad is that bad. I think we have talented players which need to be supplemented with 3 more refined players in key positions. We do need a manager who will a) find these players b) coach them correctly c) play them correctly.

This is why I'm willing to give Rodgers a chance but that chance will be gone if our targets are ****.

If you're a glass half empty person it's been awful - if you're a glass half full, it has been a minor miracle.

So gonzo you know what the picture is now - Shankly pointing with the caption 'Raheem the exit's that way lad'.

I think we've both been on the same page re Rodgers since he came - one more season?

You're right, it is a miracle - we're extremely fortunate that Spurs and Soton slipped up because after 8 points from 8 games, we should not be 5th.

That's not down to Rodgers. We're just fortunate that others team have been as poor as us.

You can't actually separate the team and the manager for our position, he picks who plays, they play, the result reflects the team choice and how much effort they put in.
