Can either of them play on the left?

We would then have Ibe, Plank, Markovic (remember him?) and Lallana as competition for those slots, which Coutinho could play as well if need be.

Jesus christ!! I sometimes forget Markovic is actually a winger/cam. Sterlings exit might actually pave way for him to make his career at Liverpool

He scored 3 goals while playing wingback. I think it's a high time we made do with what we have a channel funds where they are urgently required.

Kono is a very good player IMO. Versatile, quick, skillful. Far more refined than Ibe or Markovic and entering his prime.

Only reason he hasn't Ukraine yet is because of the President of Dnipro is a nutter.

    Would be very smart business.

I would say he is - we need an attacking player given that Sterling is likely to leave. If we don't sign more attackers, then it puts more pressure on Ibe and Markovic to lead attacks.

Kono has very good experience and would represent value for money given he's on a bosman.

Lets Look at the realistc current squad for next year

GK: Mingolet.. nobody else so a GK will come in
RB: Wisdom, Flanagan (for greez) Manquillo? This is not good
    LB: Moreno.... not good again
CB: Ilori, Sahko, Lovrn, skertl.. toure? Reality check guys we won't be buying here
DCM.. lucas, can? Again not good. Can i think could be really dynamic in this role.. he could be brilliant for us.
CM, Henderson, allen.... this is seriously lacking
"Attackers" Coutinho, lallana, markovic, ibe for wing.
    Strikers: Sturridge, origi.

this assumes some sales and enrique being toast, and frees too.

We are very very clearly short in some areas..

lost suarez.. not replaced well if at all. need to shift 4 lumps of ****e to make something happen. (aspas, borini, lambert, balotelli)
Losing gerrard... must be replaced with A midfielder. people say can't replace. **** it we are talking about A midfielder not replacing him.

After those two absolute minimums I see several holes. GK, RB, LB... lucas replacement...

Thats a lot of work and it is really just to stand still and keep up there at 5th!

  7. Wasn't saying we should or should go for him, I just don't think he's a priority and judging by the RCB, DM, CF comments you've made previously, you don't rate it as a priority either :)

  8. I know you mentioned Lambert, Balotelli, Borini and Aspas but what about Enrique, Alberto, Coates and Sterling...? That's actually eight players to shift with one or two needing to be replaced. We need three or four players before starting <laugh>

Alberto is on 2 season loan with malaga and according to astro he's got 13mil buying clause in that... as you know I would snap thier hand off for 5 so i am assuming he is gone

enrique is toast. I think his knee is done. he has one year left on his current contract so I dunno. I feel he won't play.

Coates will go on loan again i assume he will be sold... he has one year left on current contract and it is in his interests to move on

Sterling .. theres a ****ing thread for that <ok>

  10. I edited

Can't see us selling eight players, never mind just those eight, how often do we get all ins and outs right?

Priority in the sense that we have limited resources so those positions should be strengthened first.

But when you have a player of Kono's quality on a bosman, then we have to go in for him. It's smart business.

    Fair point.

    1. Aspas has already said he is going
    2. jones has said he is going
    3. Lambert might or might not go but if a club that can give him a year playing comes up he would take it i reckon
    4. Borini actually has 2 years left and is 24. If he sticks where he is he will struggle badly to gt a decent contract. It is really down to his agent i guess. He's already damaged his future by not moving already so I think it depends on the offer he gets
    5. Balotelli. I think he is nuts, I think we will sell him if we get any offer but will he go to sampdoria for instance? who knows.
    6. Coates: I think he'll go for 1 or 2 mil and there are teams out there who will snap up. sunderland will prob pony up 5mil if they stay up they are that mad. again he is just coming to 25 and so needs to move or he will be on tiny wages for next years.
    7. enrique. I could see him going on loan honestly.... that's the only way he will go.
    8. sterling he's already done a deal somewhere. I believe thommo on that assumption.

All in all this is all dead wood including sterling, hes made it untenable now. none will pays so they are all a resource drain and frankly all bar sterling are bottom half players at best.

    ...............................................................
On the other side... europa league next year.

I am not impressed by our options from u21 level that we can now turn to and our club needs a hard look at itself. we've neglected this are since rodgers took over (or in other words DoF was trashed) and our academy recruitment will put us back to the days where heighway was lauded but the club did **** all to make a real player.

Yesil... i need to see him fit to see if he's any future at all.

Sinclair has a long way to go.
Ojo is not all that.. I wuold demand him being on 5 year deal on low money before he gets a chance.

    rossiter? Brannagan? etc etc etc..

smith and mclaughlin at full back?

none are prem players so i am struggling to write a europa team list right now for group stages.

    Yes like milner.

Konoplyanka is what he is. If he's there on a free he will be looking for big money so sure get him but is he any better than markovic?

  16. No arguments with that but what if (as we suspect) have a limited budget? Signing such a player would eat into that budget meaning we have less to spend on the prioritise highlighted. You just said yourself, the prioritise should be first.

Kono, Schar, and Ings available on Bosmans would be great, improve the team (in Ings' case, the squad) and probably reasonable wages-wise. Milner as well, although wages could be more there.

Then we have more money to spend on a striker, DM and RB if need be. I think we would all take Aubaumeyang or Lacazette, espeically if Aub. was available for 15-20 million (not sure how likely that would be though).

  18. I guess it comes down to how we're going to be playing. If we go back to the diamond that what use is a winger...?

I agree but he won't be anywhere near the wages Milner is asking for so it represents value for money. And is more likely to be starting most games than Milner.
