Raheem Sterling parties with Crystal Palace players

Liverpool stand accused of "not doing enough to protect Raheem Sterling from negative headlines."

Perhaps the Reds should have grounded the young forward on Saturday night!

After being beaten 3-1 at Anfield by Crystal Palace on Saturday evening, Sterling chose to party on Saturday night in Manchester ... with Crystal Palace players!

Sterling was pictured at Liv nightclub with Jason Puncheon, just hours after Puncheon scored the equalising goal against the Reds.

Also celebrating on Saturday night in Liv was Palace's Yannick Bolasie, who enjoyed an outstanding afternoon at Anfield, and Everton's on-loan Spurs winger Aaron Lennon who was celebrating the Blues 2-1 win at Upton Park earlier that day.

If Sterling is serious about the Reds not doing enough to protect him from adverse headlines, perhaps he should also take a look at some of his own decisions.

It works both ways doesn't it. No agents meddling without players wanting them to meddle, no players getting cold/itchy feet without agents wanting them to. But I think Sterling in this case has done enough himself with his interview and 'quotes' to merit the ire and outrage of fans by putting his face publicly out there. The whole world of player ownership and representation is one rife with corruption and nefariousness and wants looking at and changing. But change won't come because too many mouths are getting stuffed from the same pot, dribbling the juices down there fat triple chins and onto the floor. The flow, distribution and general importance of money and finances in football are so ****ed up and out of control compared with other sports, it disgusts me and should be stopped but it's representative of the aggressively hyper-capitalist world that the sport follows from where everything is commodified and shot through with alienation.

His agent probably thought he was being a [HASHTAG]#mediagenius[/HASHTAG] by doing the BBC interview a while ago to make it look like Sterling wasn't interested in money, then announcing he wants to move just before the end of the season. In reality he's costing Sterling £9k per day in lost wages and has ruined his image which will probably cost him a few million in image rights.

the agents job is to get the best outcome for his client

where's the issue then?

Long term sterling might be able to pull him the 200k per week... maybe. actually a big maybe but who knows where prem wages are going. Therefore this 6 months on 35k is meaningless if it gets him to the top club fast right?

Well no... cos he isn't ready for the top club. He does not pass the sniff test. Lets just imagine mr sterling next august at real madrid say in place of gareth bale.... FFS bale still hasn't bothered his arse learning spanish properly and his goal return is dropping off. Can you imagine him missing a sitter with ronaldo looking at him saying why did you not pass and 90k cat calling at him?

No i can't.

My view is they are either forcing a move or were running the clock down but its all imploded on them. this basically means that rather than saying hey I am the best 20 year old out there and will be the best 22 year old too so I'm going to take this now on the least extension i can get away with (say make it 4 years from this summer on 100k) and i'll focus like hell on being the best and maybe even get to a final along the way cos when I am ready those big clubs will be queuing up.

As of now he prob will get a move but he might struggle and thats where we are at. If he struggles to make an impact he might end up floating aorund never winning what he thought he would and being another owen.. just playing to go with england.... on at most 100k and wondering.

.....................

If i were nuetral i'd even say... yeah raheem you are right you know this shower aint going to win you much but I have to come back to the point most pundits will make and thats.... are you sure you are ready

Even though he's been cack recently, still thought we needed to keep hold of him as he IS one of our better players. If he wants to go fine, let him go, it's more about how he's conducted himself that's bothered me, and it's infuriating how public this whole saga is, as MITO stated earlier, too many mouth pieces at our club; Rodgers being one of them.

Whether we sell him or not, we'll see. Who knows, we showed with Suarez that we won't be bullied, however, with only two years remaining on his contract it probably makes sense to cash in on him. In terms of his ability, he is one of the best young players in the world, and everyone on this board knows that, and losing him will be a massive blow, mainly due to how **** we are in the transfer market. Honestly, we could get £100m for him and we'd still be signing Ings and Delph for a combined fee of £45m. The whole saga is a complete mess and a PR nightmare on all parts, and when it's all said and done it's likely that every party involved will be losers in the end.

If Sterling is not a top player....why offer him too money
