It's what I heard from both commentator Conor McNamara and Kevin Kilbane. Both said that he appeared to aim the ball with intent. Only wish I'd had a video stream going to see it.

Jones is one of these referees who never looks in control of the game. All these hand movements trying to be authoritative, but he just looks like a plonker.
