The RS board: Depay has moved from a world class player to an overrated overhyped nobody playing in a weak league. Unlike the election result, that one was fully expected...;)
Indeed, happens all the time.
Same as how Hazard was the second coming 3 years ago, when United were trying to sign him, but then become overhyped when Chelsea got him....oh and Kagawa is better.

ONE person said that!!!

Most of us found it funny that he went to project Chelsea and United promptly won the league, it's fairly obvious that Hazard is a decent player.

I know mate, dont worry, I wont tar all of you with the same brush.
Every board has their resident dunce or two.
No prizes for guessing who your two are <laugh>

Depay is a very good player and it's a better signing than mega bucks for Bale.

It might sound a bit like sour grapes but we don't need Depay there are other areas all over the pitch that need sorting before a winger.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers denies he was interested in Memphis Depay... despite talking with PSV

Brendan Rodgers claims Liverpool made no attempt to sign Manchester United-bound winger Memphis Depay.
Depay’s representatives held talks with Anfield representatives, as a PSV Eindhoven spokesman confirmed on Friday morning. “Liverpool contacted us and talked with the player," he said. "They were also one of the clubs interested but at the end Memphis had the final decision and he chose Manchester United."
However, Rodgers insists there was no interest in signing the 21-year-old.
United announced a £25 million deal for the youngster on Thursday, with Depay revealing he had turned down other Premier League clubs.
Depay: Why I chose Manchester United over Liverpool
“It was not something that we were interested in,” said Rodgers.
“He is a young, talented player but we already have four players at the club in his position so we have other priorities we are looking at over the summer. With the players we have we are well stocked in that area.”

Liverpool are acutely aware they are gaining a reputation for losing out in head-to-head transfer battles with their nearest rivals having previously lost players to Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
There is no doubt, however, that a goalscorer is Liverpool’s main focus over the course of the summer.

He is talking BS like Ed. If he is not careful he'll be turfed out too...<whistle>

He could be talking crap as he has a reputation for it but I wouldn't be surprised if he's telling the truth here as it's not a position that would be a priority.

Could be that Liverpool enquired about Depay and then decided they were not interested.
I dont think it was a battle between Liverpool and United for him, because that would only ever end one way.
United would pay him double what Liverpool would, and also pay PSV double what Liverpool would.

Well from the articles prior to today it looks that the RS were indeed interested. Depay himself was told he had the RS as an option. That is why he wrote "why I chose United over the RS". I think they had a go and they lost. But never mind they can always go a player from the Saints.

One of our problems without a doubt, we are freeing up a lot of wages this Summer it would be wise to put money on the table and get our targets.
On the bright side, due to the increase in PL TV revenue, missing out on the CL will be less costly money wise.
I know the CL TV money is going up aswell, but in relation to the increase for the PL TV rights, Liverpool are still better off than previously, problem is though, so are the rest of the league.

This will ultimately make the PL colossal in the European stakes. Once and for all proving to some absolute bell ends how inferior other leagues are.

Most likely they enquired about him, and as soon as they were informed we were in for him they decided it wasn't worth pursuing. They already got burned a bit when they tried to pay £22m for Jones after we'd already triggered his release clause so didn't want to be shown up again.

As you say, no chance he would choose Liverpool over us, for financial or sporting reasons right now, so Liverpool probably saw no point wasting their time trying.

Very raw player, but pacey and strong and that's always a good start in this league. Technique wise, when I've watched dutch games he looks ok, but he obviously won't get as much time on the ball in the English league. Seems decent at powering it into the corner from 30 yards, however the keeper involved in the "screamer" is an absolute joke <laugh>

Hope he does well for Man Utd, a good Man Utd is a plus for the league.

Appreciate the insight from someone who's watched him. What's his style of play and strengths?
