No he played well... even in a wide position which isn't his best.

Hmm fair enough. In a team that were electric and won 6-0, hardly noticed him.

He's not going to get the headlines in a team with players like Aguero & Silva in it, but he'll do a solid 7/10 every week and provide stability to allow the others to go play... while also chipping in with goals and assists. 7 goals this season.. would be our top scorer.

    Some stats on Danny Ings:

    - He has taken 22% of Burnley's shots this season
    - Scored from 10 goals from 89 shots which is 11%
He won't get you 7/10 every week.

Why not? Evertime I watch him he provides a solid game with the 1 in 3 being very good.

He's more of a 6/10 and that's not what this team needs ...

No, but he's an option to replace the "old Gerrard". That still needs us missing a "young Gerrard" though.

But that;s the issue - why do we want to replace old Gerrard? Old Gerrard is awful.

With Gerrard and maybe Yaya going we could do with a consistent performer with experience of winning things. So long as it doesn't tie up much money.

Dunno. I think milner had an alright game although i only started watching 2nd half. Good poaches goal and obviously performed solidly. I do remember 2 or 3 times he was in a decent position and didnt have an end product. Also dostinctly remember him smashing 2 very easy crosses no where near the strikers

Wasn't his best game and he's a better CM than Winger and would play for us in the centre

Milner is better than most people give him credit for, but he's still a grafter who just so happens to have a few neat touches on him. We have that player in Henderson. We need the quality around him, not another grafter but older.

I'd be happy with Can and Henderson as two starting midfielders next season. If it's 2-3-1, that's a good paring. If it's 3-3, then we need a talented DM playmaker like Alonso to sit behind them, or a talented AM playmaker ahead of him (could Coutinho take up that role?) Allen and Lucas on the bench to mix it up and rotate.

As today again proved, we just majorly lack a brilliant forward. Number one priority and at any cost.

We lost our momentum once Matic came on - that's how a quality DM can impact games.

Agree, we need a striker but another quality CM would be good. Henderson cannot influence games IMO.

Bring in some more defenders so we don;t have to waste Can anymore and can put him where he can do damage.

Hendo and Can are the all action midfield box to box players, but not very technical. If you add in a defensive midfielder behind them, there's simply not enough creativity in there. Milner is no solution (we'd have Lucas and Allen as ok, do a job fillers).

I just hope Rodgers has a vision for next season. I'm not really sure what he wants...starting with the formations. We need creativity in midfield somewhere so if we want a top drawer DM too, Can or hendo have to give otherwise we'd never score.

True but I wouldn't be playing Hendo and Can together. Have a DM behind them and which then gives Can the license to attack, and I would argue he is technical and creative. Then you can play Coutinho in the middle in the number 8 role which is where he is best.

How about pairing Can and Henderson in the middle of a diamond with a creative holding player behind and Coutinho in a free role in front. They would prove a solid central paring that will give the creative players total freedom.

We'd have the same problem as last season. We need a quality DM - Henderson is good at pressing and closing down, but I question his discipline and tactical/spatial awareness from a defensive POV.

I do think Can can play the role but then we're taking away his best attributes.

However, if you had these 2 in front of a quality DM - then you'd get the best out of them as they wouldn't have to worry about any defensive responsibilities.
