Think we're undervaluing Milner. He can play a bit too. Not David Silva but hardly a deluxe Robbie Savage is he.

If we sign him + sometime foreign and exciting we'll be on the right lines of securing talent and experience (which we are crying out for).

Being linked to Montoya for £7.2m. Seems quite high for a player that has hardly played for them this year.

 

Still a very good player IMO and is what we need. We need more strength in the fullback positions and Montoya can play on both flanks.

 

Agreed just not seen much of him and if he's not wanted by barca why is he costing so much

 

I suppose £7m is reasonable in this day and age, and would be considered relatively cheap for a 24 year old with pretty good experience and a few league titles under his belt.

 

Think the key with Montoya is he's been in the Barca set up for so long. He's been training with the best and played in a side with the highest standards in world football.

Exactly - and these are types of players we should be targeting. Talented players at big clubs who have limited opportunities.

 

Yep Montoya is exactly the 'FSG model' we keep hearing about.

There is good business out there for clubs willing to convince players to move - Montoya, Adriano, Pedro, Illarramendi and Jese from Spain alone... If we spend 'big' it has to be on emerging players from abroad OR those with experience - Kovacic, Fekir, Howedes, Shaqiri, Menez etc.

Going to be interesting when all these players move elsewhere and we get Ings, Trippier etc...

We obviously can't compete with Chelsea etc but we shouldn't have to!
