which, if they retain their five seats and don't take them up again, means the number needed for a majority becomes 323.
Good point, I hadn't thought of that. And hopefully a cross party group will tie George Galloway up and leave him by the bins, so he won't count either.

Might get into that fun situation that wehad in the 70s when things were so tight MPs had to be wheeled in from hospital to vote.

Surely 326 seats will still be needed to initially form the government?

Ukip got 21% of the vote in Sunderland and pushed tories into 3rd. ...lib dems only got 700 votes. ..
Swing from CON to LAB was less than expected - actually supporting the BBC Exit Poll... The UKIP influence could be interesting, because there was a larger swing from LAB to UKIP...

Yes, I would have thought UKIP voters would need to vote Tory to keep Labour out.

If we keep this commentary up for every seat we have a chance of overtaking the Word Association thread in total posts. As I started the thread that makes me the big winner of this election.

They can form a minority government and try to gather the 326/323 they need on a vote by vote basis. You don't need a guaranteed majority to form the government. But it will be less hassle to do a deal with Lib Dems and/or DUP.

Brilliant rumour that Balls may lose his seat.

There was a 30-40% of voters undecided. I suspect that a lot of them may well of been UKIP sleepers. This may be the tip of the iceberg.
