I've had it with Sky. This is beyond a joke, one game for us from now till November? One game and we are a top ten team looking to get into Europe after making massive headlines with our signings.
I'm not a conspiracy nut but this is an obvious attempt to lower SAFC media profile and deny it TV revenue.

And by the way, any NUFC supporter who thinks it’s funny that they have 3 games over the same period just remember, if it can happen to us it can happen to you. Buying the exclusive rights to televise a league should mean you are obliged to give equal air time to all the teams involved. We all pay the same.
It stinks, it's corrupt and it’s ruining the game.

they can only show 115 games though, yes i agree the big 4-6 will have the most, and the rest will be made up off playing the top 4-6, but they cant show everyone 21 times (which is the max any 1 team can be shown live) and they need viewing figures.

yes it sucks big time for us, but the Man U`s of this world just have more pulling power to get viewing figures up.

But how does the viewing figure argument stack up? Surely once the subscription is bought thats that. Man U fans, Arsenal, Chelsea fans all buy their subscriptions anyway. Surely if smaller teams fans know that their teams will be getting more air time then that will equate to more subscriptions from followers of these smaller teams.
Its not about viewing figures, its about continuing the dominance of the top teams and making sure that their brands get the most exposure.

Maybe, but i'll give my money directly to the club from now on mate. If I can't get home to watch a game then I'll just have to miss it.

Personally, after the second half of last season,it will be nice to have Saturday afternoon kick offs.
It was really awkward last season having to swap shifts at work weeks on end wether it be because of TV or other teams European commitments. Some people will say if we were in Europe it would be the same, but at least it would be more pallatable then. If you have Sky,then you will have Football First which should help ease the pain.
I presume the moaners dont actually go to matches, which is why they are whingeing.
By the way,we arent on ESPN much here

For me as it stands, forgetting for a minute how many times we're on Sky, bearing in mind there's still another half of the season to feature where no doubt we'll get our fair share of air time.

Sunderland are currently not a massive pull for TV audiences, we've spent the past few years shaking off the yo-yo club reputation and establishing ourselves in the prem.

This season Quinn has said he's looking to push on and finish just in behind the big boys. 7th, 8th? Again, this will be steady progression and hopefully with the signings made and any still to come will help us to do so. This for me is far more important than however many games some overpaid Man United fan (that's a guess by the way) working in his Sky offices decides SAFC can have.

I'm not too sure on the actual figures but I would imagine that screening a match live costs a cany bit of money, equipment, fuel, contractors, pundits, police, accommodation etc etc, and being isolated in the North East from this point of view doesn't help. All the other clubs tend to be bunched up either around the Midlands or the capital, therefore reducing overheads.

Forget about Sky for a while mate, we've got an exciting season ahead when hopefully we'll make that next step up! <ok>

P.S Having said that I'm still surprised the Derby aint on!

Well sky have board members, and stock prices, they will look at viewing figures for last season, and see that the Big 4 get the most, Wigan got the least (as an example) and we got middlish, so thats how they do the fixtures. so the big 4 get most of the matches, we get middlish, and Wigan get the fewest.

They just need to show that what they are spending their money on, is worth it, if they showed games with not a lot of viewing figures, then how can they back up paying all the money to the clubs.

Doesnt bother me anyway, I dont have Sky, with Virgin Media and its totally out of their control, yes i am a bit pissed off, but its understandable, and it does mean that after November, we will have another 8-9 games on the TV.

I'm interested how we perform on the pitch, and couldn't give a hoot about out TV coverage or lack of it.

It pisses me off to how they favour the bigger clubs! Instead of doing it on club dize they should just have the games spread out evenly. But I suppose it is a business and they have to show the games that will pull the most demand and if they didnt they would go bump. E.g. On digital. Some teams carry bigger fan bases than others and thats the way it is!

Kids are fickle, one of my best mates watched Sunderland vs Man U years ago now, Man U thumped us 4-0 and he has supported them ever since, my point is that without the TV coverage we can never expand our name, its fine if you go to the matches, but what about someone living 200 miles away, they pay £70 a month to sky, and only really for the football, then we get 1 game in the 1st 3 months, its bound to piss people off, and that is Monday night to Norwich, which is a right bitch to get to.

Its not because we're isolated up here, or the Toon would be sufferin too. My problem is I feel we are sleighted as a club. I know its down to revenues, and one of our problems is whilst we get very good crowds, we dont have the fanbase outside of our area.

One more thing, Quinny might have knocked Sky back due to his stance on illegal veiwing? Far-fetched perhaps, but it is a thought.

The club can't knock them back. The club is part of the Premier league and Sky have the rights to show whatever they like, or not.
