Both Rooney and Falcao missed a couple of good chances. Chelsea took there chance we didnt thats the main thing. We finish 4th at worse this season. cant wait for the summer when the check book comes out lol.

The truth is (and plenty of Chavs won't like hearing this) you look at how the season has gone, we are where Chelsea were 12 months ago, and given the amount we'll spend in the summer and our rate of progress, will likely be ahead of them 12 months from now![]()

Remarkably close to where they are tbh.
They won the CL in 2012, spent £200 million in total over the next two seasons, and finished 3rd with no trophies in Mourinho's first season
We won the PL in 2013, spend £200 million in total over the next two seasons, and look like finishing 3rd with no trophies in LVG's first season
Always amuses me how quick Chelsea fans are to point out how we've spent all that money to finish 3rd![]()

You spent £223m gross, £170m net and finished seventh and maybe third, fourth or second on a max of 83 points. No title challenge, playing part-time with no European football as a distraction.

We spent £223m, £54m net to finish third and then third again with 82 points (four points off the top, you are 10)/ Mounting a strong title challenge whilst playing European football reaching a semi final.

Morning all. No doubt it's all been said (to death)...disappointing result but encouraging performance. How many champions have ever had less than 30% possession in any home game?! Jose's tactics were a compliment to United, he knows that we are now the better footballing side and there was no point in trying to play us hence parking two buses. Give Jose credit, he knows his team's limitations and he doesn't care about entertaining anyone but himself so he got the job done. Had Carrick been fit and Rooney been up front then it could have been a different outcome but I'm sure the Chavs will argue that had Costa been fit then they would have played football! Couple of tweaks and this could be a very good and entertaining United side that will go into next season with a lot of confidence.

[QUOfactua"Christiansmith, post: 7840843, member: 1014101"]I just wondered whether this season's champions could be one of the worst in recent history. To treat United as Barca is very flattering but FFS everyone could see there was no need. United had a make shift defence and mid field. Blind Jones and Rojo and Carrick, one of our recent successes and playmaker injured. And Rooney had to play in midfield. To park 2 buses against such a team?? Ridiculous. Poor champions in a poor season.

Not quite. The better side doesn't always win. See champions league final 2005, 2012 and europa league final in 2003 and 2013.

We won and you lost. Champions are champions whichever way you spin it. If you were better than us you would be top. It ain't rocket science.
[/QUOTE]Why take only the last 2 years and not 3 or 4 ? then you'll include one title and less annual expenditure? You can prove anything you want if you choose the right stats![]()

Over a 38 game season though? The best team wins through, especially when there is, what, an 11 point gap between us? AND we have a game in hand!
Its not like you are running us close.
