Allam's response will be very interesting.

Are the Council telling him how to run his business?

The application fee and time for the various Departments needed to consider it and comment can be. It needs to be more than provable tha it wasn't just rubber stamped.

Not knowing how the hockey pitches are used does it mean at least one is surplus to requirements or is it the case of evicting an existing user(s) ?

So they are putting in an application for planning permission for a bubble pitch, so that should the Allams want one there it is already sorted? (I get it is the equivalent of only putting in one of their own forms, I thought the idea was the council would build the bubble pitch or something....)

I suppose it also has to go through the usual time frame in case there are any objections ?

Now, let me think who might object ? :emoticon-0136-giggl

I'm assuming they'll bill it back to the SMC, assuming it gets that far, but they can waive planning fees for some developments anyway.

We went through this a few pages back about the spare land around the KC.

I know it's only Google Earth but there is a tract of land between the north/east corner and the 2 pitches that could accommodate another smaller pitch.
An Airco arena sized facility would certainly fit in the area. Depends if it has to be a full size pitch or not, for Cat2 academy status it's not necessary but if the club
has ambitions for Cat1 and it has to be full size to meet that audit then it makes sense to build a full size pitch now.

They can't bill the SMC for Officers time, and it's that that sucks up the most time and resources.

I suspect that's the least of their concerns at the moment.

I don't think they're in the least bit concerned. I was simply pointing out it's not just a case of filling a form in, and there are cost and time liabilities.

Fair play to them. It leaves it square in the Allams (squash) court, with some of the previous 'deadlines' blowing in the wind through a lack of substance.

They are I agree but he said he wanted 2 things.
One of which was a guarantee that planning would be accepted before it went in, even HCC isn't dumb enough to reject it's own application. So on that score he has what he wants.

"The Kingston Upon Hull Hockey Club was formed through an idea from Hull City Council who required a Hockey Club to be formed to use the new all-weather facility they were building at the Kingston Communications Circle. Hull (Welton) Men's Hockey Club and Welton Ladies Hockey were first asked to form the Club in 1999.
In 2001 Hull YPI Hockey Club was asked to join the amalgamation. This led to the Club being formed with 6 Men's Teams, 5 Ladies Teams, 4 Mixed Teams and various Junior Teams"

So how does this affect the hockey club?

Rather than legal action it could be the Premier League that has the last word in this round. If they say the arena does not conform to their requirements either by size or exclusive use then that will be that, won't it?

Planning for what though? Is the council's plans what he always wanted, or isn't it?

Only until the club request another audit date when planning permission and the purchase order for the dome is in place.

This deadline of April 23rd is no longer a factor.

The club can pick up the phone and ask that the audit is postponed until the above are in place.

I think there are also hockey pitches at Hull Uni, though I don't know if they're for public use or not.

There was also a sand based all-weather pitch at Endeavour, but the scally's round there kept setting fire to it and I think it's knackered now. I used to play footie there on a Monday night and I suspect it was better for hockey than football, we used to go to and compare carpet burns in the Station Pub after each game.

I'm not an expert on planning laws but won't the SMC need the Council's agreement to use their planning permission to erect a bubble pitch?

With all the teams they have I would have thought both pitches would be in use at the weekend particularly as no doubt they play in various leagues plus training use in the evenings. Hope its not a solution that leads to further evictions.

Its a genuine question. I don't know the answer. If the Council can't recoup the costs then, effectively its a gift to the SMC.
