As it's listed make it safe and retain it as a visitor's landmark being part of Henry viii's dissolution of the monasteries.

Another one bites the dust - The George Lamb Memorial Chapel on Lambert Street was burned down last night...

It had just received planning permission to be converted into flats.

Sad really - the pic of it on fire looks exactly like the abbeys de Bon Repos show in Brittany France

i agree on Ferensway being a bit of a **** place for a posh hotel , Marina is barely any better tho as the caaansil still cant get a sodding bridge across Castle Street .

I also noticed the scribblings all over the pavements - i was hoping it was our bid for a F1 track in 2017 :)

I doubt it would be a "posh" Hilton. More likely their Hamilton Inn brand for a city center location on Ferensway.

That's going up faster than our season ticket prices.

I guess that Manor company some seem to despise aren't responsible for it then?

Any plans for the dock in front of it?

Wykeland are doing this.

Manor are land bankers. I'm sure many people on this forum have dealt with them in some way, and know what they are.

It's nothing to do with Manor, it's Wykeland, one of the better local developers.

The old dry dock(which used to Allam's before his company went bust) is due to be converted into an outdoor sunken amphitheatre...

Oh wow.

Seriously.

Wow.

What will be put on in that? Looks amazing.

I've not seen any detail on what's planned for there, but I assume they'd have bands on and plays, basically anything that would attract people...

The concept behind the amphitheatre design envisages a removable wooden stage behind constructed in the dock basin and a raised wooden walkway offering new views across the dock and River Hull.

Red beds would be planted in the dock basin, maintained by freshwater drained from the new office complex and controlled flows of river water during high tides.

The development also features an open central square including a semi-sunken cycle store topped with a grass roof and a temporary car park.

I assume that during the year of culture, Hull will get the Radio 1 Big Weekend. That is just the perfect sort of venue for smaller acts who don't make the bill.

Exciting times eh?

A lot of what is going on round the Fruit Market/Marina area is very exciting, the new digital hub, the amphitheatre and square, the redevelopment of the old fruit warehouses and linking everything up between the Marina and The Deep, the only major issue left to resolve is linking the area with city centre via the land bridge over Castle Street.

The Chapel's on it's way down...

Very sad to see. I remember seeing the chapel for the first time as a young lad. It was like a hidden gem.

That Dr Raut, who owns it, comes from the same school as Manor property.

****s like them need running out the city.

While we're talking about that area, has anyone been to the Deep for a meal in the evening? Even my missus thought it looked amazing. Once this lot is built I'll have no trouble getting her to visit the place regularly.

She deffo seemed up for a meal in the Deep though, so, anyone done it, any thoughts on it?

Good fish.

Good fish.
You can joke, but, seeing as how we've kept marine fish for a fair while now, we do not eat shrimps and the like. I don't mind a bit of haddock, cold water fish bastards that they are, but can't touch owt that looks like "Shrimpy" or "Crabby" from me tanks.
