I don't think it's a question of having the stomach for the fight, the Council have various legal duties and also an obligation to consider the bigger picture. Yesterday you doubted they'd do anything, but the letters show they've looked at a number of options. Behind the scenes, they will have looked at more.

If what they do scuppers the arena plans and results in the Airco going back to community use, while at the same time, the club is not thrown into even more disarray, I think that's favourable to them getting dragged into the Allams personal issues.

They have to consider the situation from several different angles.

Has anyone sent this story to national press? At this particular time, it's sure to expose toad face to the nation.

The council will be left with no option but to attack unless they've decided to throw in the towel and let someone with a bit of competence take over.

I never thought they'd take any action, I still don't think they'll take any action, complaining about the Allam's in the HDM and writing indignant letters to the Premier League are not what I was referring to, I was talking about legal action to actually prevent this from happening.

They do have an obligation to enforce the terms etc, but when that enforcement would cost a lot of public money and even winning it could land you with a £6m bill, then I don't believe they'll entertain it, the risks and the downside are simply too big.

Your definition of action differs to mine. For me, if they do something that blocks the move and keeps the club viable without procrastinated court cases at public expense, that's a far better action than what you suggest.

They have, and are acting, and in a way that considers the bigger picture. Court cases are always a gamble, and it doesn't always end as you'd like to think it will.

Sometimes, the grand gesture to play to the gallery can be the lesser option.

Just to change tack slightly away from the Club/Council spat, the bitterly disappointing outcome from this week has been the installation of the 3g pitch.

Until now, the clubs that used the Airco had hoped a compromise could be reached and whilst the arena was still in a usable condition it was plausible. That hope is well and truly dashed.

The pitch will now only be removed if:

    1) A compromise is reached
    2) Legal action enforces it

Unfortunately I can't see either happening.

Even if the club fails the audit next week the pitch will remain in situ.

I don't know whether to be angry or feel pity towards the people that have done this.

If the bubble pitch had been put up and the Hockey club evicted, everyone would be happy.

A fair compromise is one whereby all parties involved are satisfied with the outcome.

I'd assume rehoming the hockey team would be a piece of piss.

All that wasteland , next to the pathway , leading to the K.C , Can not a new indoor arena be built there , the Airco groups may have to wait a bit , But groups will filter in again , once the arena is finished.

What - so we have 2 arena on the stadium land? If we're building a new one then Hull City should build it out towards the west of the city.

What ? should be Why ? should'nt It. After all it is council land , obviously there is a growing need to expand the sports / recreation facilities. The area is in West Hull & moreover , Incorporates the Sports Village Imagery around the parkland. Duh.

What has council land got to do with Hull City's academy facility?

Isnt there a rule about kids needing to be within 45 minutes of the facility? If we move it to, say Melton, then that creates a wider net. Or is that no longer relevant?

Wearing my biggest twat hat, I can tell you that finding suitable astro pitches for hockey is very difficult. I spent 35 years involved in hockey and can speak from personal experience. Clubs become restricted by the availability of pitches. My old club has moved 3 times including once when the astro we used was taken over by Portsmouth FC.

Okay BCC , the current Airco arena may be kept as an existing Academy facility, should the powers that be , feel that a burgeoning youth academy is in keeping with promoting the need for local kids to play football , under the guidance of a national football club , like Hull City. Which It is , as It's owned by SMC & the Allams. The feasability of the Council using their own land around the K.C which is largely unused and unkempt , would be an Ideal location and Idea to add a community based sports/ recreation facility for the COMMUNITY GROUPS. As the existing groups are pledging support from the council , In an attempt to be allowed to use the Airco , then an Investment and oppurtunity has seen forces merge to bring about an Issue of perhaps , maybe building in the parkland around the K.C in space of which there is plenty of. And they would be 5 minutes away from the exisiting facility. The 45 minute ruling only refers to one half of the face saving game in which Hull City seem to only apply to in most games.

That already exists. It's called the Airco Arena.
