If Toby really is open to staying then it could be that there is an idea within the camp for him to take Morgan's role within the side when he moves on. Toby was excellent there earlier in the season and I suspect it might be easier to try and find a good CB for reasonable money than it would be a Morgan replacement (that we could be sure of holding the midfield together).

Just a left-field thought :)

West ham were offered Jenkinson for 10 mil, of course they refused as they only pay that kind of money for injury prone useless forwards, would love their keeper though

Think Jenkinson and Bellerin will be first choice RBs next year for Arsenal

Right then, whilst I'm deeply satisfied with this season already, and there is still hope for an interesting and exciting finish, I can't help wondering about this summer...

After our last eventful one, it seems many of us are not nearly as concerned this time around.

But what business do we need to do in the summer?

With the likley departures of Clyne, Schneiderlin (and Toby) - can we keep it to a minimum of just them?

Seems to me the minimum requirement must be:
  • Goalkeeper to replace, and then challenge Forster
  • Right Back to replace Clyne
  • Midfielder to replace Morgan/ Cork
  • Striker (or two - depends on JRod's ability upon returning)
And who do we want/ who can we get?
From the under-acheiving/ likely demoted sides I'd be happy to land Schmeichal, Ings, Austin, Benteke... people seem to want Trippier too - anyone else? Fer maybe?

I think I'm fairly comfortable with Reed and Ward-Prowse (hopefully) growing into regular first team players (not if it comes at the cost of being significantly weaker as a team, but I'm hopeful it won't...)
And do we need to strengthen centyral defence if Toby goes, or do we stick with Maya & Gardos?

And what about the loan players? Will we keep hold of Elia & Djuricic?
If they all go we may need to strengthen here too...?

What do you guys think?

I think you should have put 'need' in bold, not 'we'

*just saying* :)

More centre field than left field :)

Actually, I meant the bold we (and I don't often say that!). But I should have put that sentence after the one about Clyne and Morgan going, because I wanted to focus on us doing business for a change - rather than all of the other buggers trying to buy our players...

And not a bad one either.

How long has Marshall got left on his contract at Cardiff? Good keeper and young enough to be understudy once Forster back?
