Paragraph 2 I agree with wholeheartedly. Paragraph 1, I would question whether Ashley would give away perhaps £200m just to piss off some Geordies. He loves making money too much.

I have decided to go all out this time after monhs of inaction. I am going to boycott the protests.
Can I just add I wanted Pardew out and is happy the **** is gone but no one wanted Carver. Well, no ****er of sound mind anyway. I'm not a local so none of that 'he is one of own' bollocks would be coming out of my mouth. We wanted a manager, not a vast mound of chancing, usless blubber who swears and shouts occasionally and calls it 'tactical nous'.
You are entitled to your opinion, as am I.
The debate (whether in the real world or not) is whether a fan or fans should just sit back and continue to watch the Toon and accept the current position.
Some will be happy to accept things some won't. The debate for those who want to do something is.... What exactly should be done.
Is it bedsheets, inside or outside of the ground banners, boycotts, coffins, marches, protests, sausage throwing (see Brum thread) or what?
The last time there was coherent and organised opposition to the running of our club was pre Sir John Hall.
That opposition helped (along with other factors) to bring about changes... And positive ones at that.
The issue is far from a social media one as evidenced on this very forum and indeed by the Chronicle's poll results below.... Plus their coverage of said debate.
Will the Boycott achieve anything.. Probably not...
But I'd personally rather do something than nothing.. But that's just my personal view.

There will be a boycott, but it will be a couple of thousand at the most. Going to 'the match' is ingrained in the lives and routines of a lot of people. They don't and won't want to give that up. No matter how many times that Ashley takes the piss they will still be there, moaning, shouting, calling for change but simply won't do what is required to force change. That is left to the few whose voice sadly isn't loud enough and who are roundly criticized. Boycotts work; ask fans of Lazio and Dortmund. They require a united attack though. It is sad that we have a real chance to take a stand. Whether it works isn't the point. It's a chance to try. Mike Ashley has divided our fanbase to prevent challenge to him. We need to unite to get rid.
Well after 30 plus years of blind support, 27 of them years sitting in the East stand . I'm backing the boycott enough is enough for me. We need to do something.....We cant go on like this going to the match is now a chore a grind an embarrassment ffs....At least trying to do something will be better than taking it up the arse every other week from these ****s.
To be honest though many of us did say this would be the end result getting rid of Pardew. So whilst people may not have wanted Carver, it was brought about by people fighting hard to get Pardew out, to the point where he decided he'd had enough. In some kind of utopia Pardew walks and a De Boer or someone of that ilk walks in. In the real world this **** happens. Sadly as a group of fans, we are reaping what we have sown either through misplaced aggression or not enough foresight, or a combination of the 2.
Some will say "Ah but the point is it shouldn't be managed like this". For me? No the point is we should be smart enough to realise it is!
Not being funny but why has this suddenly started after losing Sunderland. Would this have happened if we'd lost 1-0 to Hull on Sunday? Personally don't think so. We would still have had one of the worst records of 2014 and 2015 (so far). Personally I will be going to the Tottenham game but know they could be a point where I would support a boycott.
I gave up my season ticket last season. I knew it would make no difference but i decided to refuse to give that Cant!! anymore of my hard earned money. Its upto the individual i guess, but I know that the majority feel the same as I did but they cant bring themselves to not go to games. Its difficult at first but after a short while, looking in from the sidelines, so to speak, you reailse what a shambles this club is in, and your decision seems all the more correct. Once you take the plunge and get over the initial few games you miss, you realise that you have made the correct decision. I get the argument about supporting the players etc, but this current crop of wage takers do not seem in the slightest bit bothered about the fans. If they did they would put their heart and soul into every game. By no stretch of the imagination do they even approach achieving that aim. I feel that this boycott will at best deliver up 2-3000 fewer bodies. Nowhere near enough for there to be any change of policy at the club. I fear we are all well and truly fecked and Fat CANT will be here for a long long time. Just stop going to games. You can watch them online anyway so what is the point of going. Its easier to close down the internet page you are watching than it is to get up and walk out. Its not like you are going there for atmosphere!! COS THERE IS NO ATMOSPHERE AT ST. JAMES ANYMORE!!!!!
Has it though? It has ramped up a bit after the derby defeat as you'd expect, that is a game that means something to the fans if not the owner.
However this has been rumbling about for 5 years in one guise or another. The human shield Alan Pardew can testify to this earlier in the season as pointed out earlier in this thread. The only thing that drowned out the "Get Ashley Out" agenda was the unbridled hatred for Pardew. However there were plenty anti Ashley banners up that day and the surrounding games, and at various times throughout the last 5 years. There are flashpoints that up the ante like getting walloped off Liverpool at home, or derby games, that is only natural. However to suggest that these are the trigger for these people is not actually accurate because it has rumbling along for ages.
Their problem is the lack of cohesion and numbers. If half your support (or more in our case) choose not to take part, it all just falls flat on its face.
What needs to happen is for Ashley to listen to reason and be open to better, more considered advice that offers a fans standpoint.
In my opinion, what needs to happen is for Lee Charnley to admit to failure for a start, by interviewing via every press outlet he can. An apology isn't fixing everything, it's a start though. Then there needs to be a 'final straw' once he's said what they are going to do. 1st September should be the time to boycott, if the club do nothing to fix what's happened, that's enough time to co-ordinate, it's enough time to rectify on their side.
He should then be the one culpable if change doesn't happen. Fighting Ashley is just nonsensical, a non-starter - Ashley needs a more competent MD to recognise and fix the multitude of problems at the club. I get that Ashley would be the head of the snake, but we need to focus cleanly on what we can effect. The media can get to Charnley, as can the fans - Ashley could burn the club to the ground and would be no worse off.
We need Lee Charnley answering questions from fans and promising, as much as he can, to deliver. The threat carried should be one of boycott's on the stadium, on buying merchandise, but we can't just jump up and down expecting such seismic change. And as has been pointed out and is known by most of us, Ashley could yet make this work.
I agree with this. The fans forum is in theory a good idea, but in practice is just another white elephant. It's we are doing this, you listen. No real input. Mike Ashley doesn't know anything about football. That is abundantly clear. If he wants redemption he and the club need to start listening.
A few good points against on here, a few ridonculously silly ones... Protests put off potential buyers? Nonsensical. A) Everybody in the footballing world knows why Newcastle fans are unhappy. B) If someone buying the club is put off by the fans being unhappy when an owner sells all the players, replaces with cheap tat and creams the profits, then WE DON'T WANT THEM. They wouldn't be an upgrade on Ashley, would they? A protest serves a double purpose of drawing attention to the situation and putting off arses who would buy the club to do exactly the same thing.
We are pretty much safe, nowt to play for, and are playing like it. If you're still going, then you can't have it both ways and moan about the situation. Tottenham is a perfect game to stay away from.
