Hull City send scouts to watch Leeds United midfielder ahead of potential summer move

Premier League outfit Hull City sent scouts to watch Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt in action against Molineux on Monday, reports the Yorkshire Post.

Mowatt, 20, has been nothing but a revelation for Neil Redfearn’s Leeds United this season and it is no surprise to him attracting interest from the Premier League.

The 20-year-old midfielder scored in the match to make it 3-3, in a game that culminated in a 4-3 win for Kenny Jackett’s Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Yorkshire club has seen a wealth of young players impress at the club this season, with Sam Byram, Lewis Cook and Charlie Taylor also becoming key components of the Leeds United squad this season.

Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn will undoubtedly want to keep Mowatt for next season, but if a significant transfer fee was tabled by the Tigers, a move could materialise.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are eyeing an £8 million move for Leeds United starlet Lewis Cook in the summer, as reported on FLW.

Leeds United currently sit 13th in the Sky Bet Championship, having amassed 52 points thus far this season.

My friend at work is a Leeds fan - says their youngsters in midfield have been the best thing to happen at Leeds in years. He said Mowatt is very good, but needs to be more consistent. He raves about Cook as the next big thing.

Mowatt goes quiet a lot, does hit the ball well and scores a good goal every now and then. A bit soft at times but I really feel like his lack of pace is what will stop him from becoming a great midfielder. Good player at champ level at the moment though and will get better.

Cook is far far better when comparing the two and is younger as well. That lad will cost more than 8m if Liverpool are seriously interested (although the rumour I heard were liverpool wanted Byram for 8m).

My mate who supports Leeds reckons that along with readfearn, 3 or 4 of the young dead promising lads will go in the summer, only to be replaced by cheapo foreign imports.....shame

Things may be pretty grim for us at the moment with divided fans, a ****ty owner and the very real threat of relegation but the prospect of poaching these ****s' best young talent is enough to warm the cockles.

Don't worry mate, redfearn needs to go. As for the promising youngsters, I do hope we are able to keep hold of em because they really are a platform for us to build the squad around. We do have a frightening amount still coming through as well that aren't in the first team yet.

Which of your youngsters can hit the best long ball? Because that's who we'll be after.

I'd prefer someone who knows where the goal is when he gets on to one of these 'long balls', Hatty!
Top 4 teams in the Premier league - 243 goals between them.
Bottom 4 teams in the Premier League - 122 goals.
Bottom 8 teams in the Premier League - 230 goals.
I don't think Leeds have any youngsters of this quality and if they are worth 7-8 million now then they will get better offers and options from elsewhere.

I think we can ignore any story saying we're going to pay £7m for a kid from the Championship.

Am I right in thinking that Redfearn was the main driver behind these youngsters being there?

If so, does him being manager affect those coming through, and if he's sacked, would he drop back to that former role? Do you see the pool of youngsters being reduced if he's not involved?

I saw it as a potential danger for you when he got the managers job.

Didn't we pay £10m for a player from Italy's second division?

No, they'd been promoted by the time we signed him.

In other words, Bruce was sat at home eating his 5th fish and chips of the weekend and saw Mowatt score that nice goal against Wolves on the telly and instantly phoned Assem "I've got a lad, I reckon first offer should be 12 million"

He'd played in Serie A and was a Uruguay international, it's hardly the same.
