I was one of the first in today, bloody superb it was too, the one down the road is quite nice but the batter is a bit rich with the beef or whatever it is they use in it.
Yeah The Battered Cod is OK. And The New Don in Altrincham isn't too bad. But neither are as good as anything Yorkshire has to offer. What really annoys me about some chippies is when they proudly display posters stating that they fry their fish and chips in vegetable oil, (Battered Cod used to do that)! I mean, WTF? Beef Dripping all the way - it tastes better and is less carcinogenic.

I had a haddock for lunch It was certainly a delightful munch I had it with chips, Extra batter bits And washed it down with a fruit punch
Started using All Electric chippy in early 60's (not sure what it was called then) when still at Endike primary school with my brother - used to skip school dinners on Wednesday and Friday when chippy was open and got a bag of chips and a patty for 7 pence out of our shilling's dinner money. It was far better than the school dinners.
Wasnt that a weird name for a chippy. It had a fire in the mid 70's and shut down for awhile. My old man was always convinced it was an insurance job.
