Or not...........he's a little bugger at running contracts down!

But when he's at one of the biggest clubs (which he inevitably would move to) there becomes less incentive to do that. There's less need to force moves and also it may be that he is entitled to a share of any fee he draws (as moves between big clubs are for larger amounts).

But that also kinda steps on your point, where's he going to move, surely he's looking to move to a big club this time?
Not denying sell on fee's are massively helpful, just pointing out pit falls in a light hearted way.

Yes. I think you misunderstand me. I am saying he will not be so keen to run down his contract at, say, United, after he leaves us, as there will be more incentive for him to move on from there for a large fee. At a club like Saints or Palace, running down his contract can be a weapon for him to make him more accessible to big clubs as a signing. There will be greater incentive for him to move for a large fee later in his career and as his own contract is for larger amounts with greater bonuses and the like. Anyway, it's pretty much boring fantasy booking here. MOVING ON!

Here's a rumor, with our next summer spree we'll bring Bale back to boost our homegrown numbers.

So we will start next seasonwith no right back?

Haven't heard of David Bence before, but it is implied at the end of the article that we won't be making any big signings in the summer. I think that comment is from journalist and not David himself.

They're just editorializing on his statement that we will look to stay profitable in the long term. No need to pay attention to that line.

I am prepared to stick my neck out and suggest we will be buying some players in the summer...daft to suggest we wouldn't. Decisions will need to be made about loanees....signing them or releasing them will also affect purchases. I don't think we will be as busy as last season, because we won't be selling as many essential players. Rogers mentioned that plans have been laid for all situations (including relegation), so being in the Europa or CL will affect things as well.

Assuming we sell Schneiderlin, Clyne and Rodriguez this summer, we could sign 70m-90m worth of players and (assuming they weren't on crazy wages) remain profitable. There are degrees of difference that he's missing by juuuuust a bit.

We tend to think that every good player is essential and we must keep them at all costs....we need to find our inner Les Reed. Although it is easier to keep players than seek new ones, Les believes all players are replaceable and he keeps a list of suitable players so we can do that. Players are passing through...the team is for ever. Hard to hold on to that, but it will help our sanity to believe it.

The way Nat Clyne is playing for England (and the continual snipping of the commentators) I don't think anyone will be looking to sign him.
Not sure what's happened to his passing and is completely exposed again by the lack of midfield cover in front of him
Sign your new contract Nat

It's funny because I think I've found mine. It happened about a month ago, and I said I was going to be the new cynical TSS. I wasn't really, of course, but it felt like it. I just realised that I didn't care so much as to who played for us, but that they did well for the team while they were in it. The only players I really, really wouldn't like to see leave is Jose and Kelvin, and that simply isn't going to happen. Anybody else can go and sling their hook if that's what they really want to do. We'll get a better player in to replace them.

That's the spirit. Morgs will be tough going, but I'm boarding that train this summer. Okay, I'm looking to buy a cattle class ticket for that train, I may well have a work commitment or social gathering that stops me boarding, but damn, that's the train I'm supposed to damn well catch this god damn summer. Friggin' hate trains, so bare with me.
