I've said it before but I'll say it again, as good as Vic is defensively he won't make it at a top club because he isn't good enough on the ball. To play as a defensive mid for one of the top teams you need to be better when in possession. He may improve, and he has improved compared to what he was like when he first joined, but I can't see a team like Arsenal coming in for him right now.

I'm sorry but that's complete rubbish. Vic may not be as good as Morgan on the ball but he's not exactly Hooiveld either. His ability to win the ball back is vital and the protection he gives the back 4 is immense.

Yeah got to admit Vic is a better player than he is given credit for....for me he would easily fit into a top 4 team.
Give it a year and he will be playing in a top 4 team.........US :)

I don't believe I said he is terrible on the ball, just not good enough for a top team. I am actually a pretty big Wanyama fan but I just don't think a top club values being great defensively over being good on the ball, you need to be a sort of hybrid of both. Look at pretty much all the teams who regularly are chasing Champions League football, then look at who their defensive midfielders are. Are many/any of them better than Wanyama defensively? I can only really make a case for one or two (Matic and Lucas), and even then that is debatable. Are players like Carrick, Arteta, Fernandinho, Fernando, Blind, there is probably more but I can't remember them right now, more accomplished on the ball? I think so, maybe Wanyama will go and I am completely wrong, but I think if he does then it will take all of about 5 games before the club he joins fans will be moaning about him.

I still think we make players look a tad better than they are...because football is a team game and we play as a team. That is why lifting Lovren from a good defence like Saints didn't work immediately. He may yet come good, who knows. Wanyama to Arsenal...not so sure. I wouldn't be that surprised if he accepts an improved contract from us.

Have you seen those two city lads? All the others on the list are hardly Pirlo
Win the ball and give a simple pass. This is the bread and butter of the defensive midfielder. Players who can do both at the highest level are a lot rarer than you think
