Wenger fights to keep stars. It seems he does not like other teams trying to poach his best players, HOW BIZARRE.

Its not like Wenger has come out and publicly said that he wants your player is it? Seems just to be paper talk.

I think he could also be referring to the aquisistion of walcott! And maybe not just talking about Southampton ita just what wenger does he signs young players. For example: Dale Jennings

And look what a mess Wenger made of poor Theo. Such potential as a striker and Wenger tries to convert him into a right winger... should never have left us when he did, lets hope Oxo does not make the same mistake.

He has publicly courted Alex, I've heard him talk about him before.
    I like seeing him squirm.

IMO Wenger has a track record of signing and then ruining young English players careers. Richard Wright, Franny Jeffers, Theo Walcott. Even his home grown brits like Lansbury are loaned out in favour of donkeys like Song.

He continually favors foreign players and certainly looks like Arsenal are on the decline as a club and under massive pressure. Im sure it would wind the gooners up to say it, but I think Spurs have much more of a successful period on the horizon, as do Liverpool, and obviously the Mancs and Chelski.

If I were Chamberlain I would run a mile and live the saints dream!

I don't mind Liverpool signing English players for big money, if you look at that team now with all the England team future prospects playing together, who knows in a few years time our national team might actually play half decent. Spain play so well as half of there team play at club level together week in week out, hopefully England will be able to do the same. I'd rather they spent the money on them than a load of foreigners, it also helps out clubs in the English leagues too, even if it is stupid amounts.

Big clubs have always been after what we have and in the past they succeeded more often than not. But now thanks to Markus / Nicola we are no mugs and have no need to sell. The signing of Cork shows that if young talent is available we will be in the market. Bring it on!

You knew exactly who i was talking about without a name mentioned. Last week on BBC (Saints laugh off 6mill bid from Gunners for Chamberlain). Bring your own players through instead of trying to get young talent on tha cheap.

You pretty much summed up every big club when it comes to young talent. You can maybe forgive Man U a little as they do try a bit harder to give their youth a chance, but really, Big clubs need instant success and are too lazy/ inpatient to bring their own through.

But Wenger has a false rep for helping to develop youngsters, maybe thats a bit harsh, but in recent times I think he's hindered more than helped.

Yeah I feel the same to be honest, he has this brilliant reputation for bringing youth through and although he does do this I feel it's more the roll of the previous club that the player has been lured away from!

Very true, but i am still smarting from when Arsenal nicked Steve Williams. Don't think any Saints fan would have a problem with Alex going to Man Utd, it's just bl**dy Arsenal.

I'd rather not take moral superiority over Wenger for poaching kids from lower leagues. We've done it too. I can't think of any of the kids that we've poached after making first team debuts that have been hugely successful though. All of the big ones that I can think of hadn't played competitively before breaking into our first team or going out on loan.

Of English and Welsh players, I can only think of Bale and Ramsey who have done well out of being poached. What others are there? Who other than Walcott hasn't lived up to expectations?
