For a start, in the present time, you need look no further than some of so called ISIS' executions. What about torturous executions? Hang, draw and quarter, blood eagle, the wheel? Drowning, freezing to death, dying of hunger, starvation, illness? There's plenty of worse ways.
absolutely shocking news, it's hard enough understanding someone committing suicide but to deliberately murder 149 other innocent people including children is beyond belief. I cannot imagine what the family and friends must be going through.
Just heard a translation from the press conference on R4 lunchtime news and they said the recorder details "happy, cheery chat" between the pilot and co-pilot right up until the point when the former went to the toilet. That's mental. It's like someone flicked a switch. Apparently his Facebook is really "fun and cheery" as well. No sign of any troubles whatsoever. Now I'm no expert but this info and the silence when on his own - if he'd had an axe to grind surely say something knowing it would be picked up by the recorder - it sounds like it wasnt pre-planned and was just a spur of the moment thing. Truly effin mental.
Thats what depression does, if he was suffering from it. If you've ever known someone who suffered it, it really doesn't sound so unusual.
I havent. There has been no suggestion thus far that he was known to be suffering depression. I dont work in aviation but I imagine if anyone thought he was then he wouldnt be flying a plane.
It's not really something that someone can suspect in another, I too doubt they would allow someone with mental illness to fly a plane, so if he did have it he was obviously keeping it under wraps, refusing to admit it to himself or maybe just never thought he had it. It does sound very much like he was suffering from it though. No fit and well person would even commit suicide nevermind taking so many innocents along with them.
Yeah mate, there's loads of parallels with similar incidents to ploughing a passenger jet into a mountain side on the spur of it like.
I was thinking that. As annoying and deliberately WUM Hat can be, what he said is completely right. It's not really a competition, but all of those are worse.
But does it need to be said? As usual Horrific news get side swiped by a stupid comment like " it's not as bad as being beheaded "
Imagine if the pilot hadn't needed the toilet. The flight would have arrived in Dusseldorf. I'm very cynical about the authorities. We only have their word for it that this was the series of events.
