Thinking of giving up both.

Not had a cigarette for 3 days and off the booze.

I have to try giving up the cigarettes again.

I'm going cold turkey.

Anyone tried recently?

He's ER, but he's our ER, God love the crazy multi-personality bastard.

Quit the cigarettes about 8 years ago, when the smoking ban came in. Seen it as a good time to quit. I used the gum, even though it didn't really help that much. You just have to struggle through for the first few weeks then it becomes easier.

Il never completely stop drinking, though I don't keep alcohol in the house, I only drink socially if I go out, which is at most once a week. I don't keep booze in the house because it's easy to get into the habit of drinking 5 or 6 cans on a daily basis.

It's each to there own, but I don't see why anyone needs to completely stop drinking if they enjoy it. Just limit yourself to the odd night every now and then. Getting into the habit on a daily basis is alcoholic territory.

If you smoke and you can't find the motivation to quit, then you really don't value your health at all. There is no such thing as a healthy smoker. I think it takes decades of your life expectancy
