Murders? What bloody murders? Only Danilo as been murdered so far <laugh>

I assume that means I'm the serial killer since that's the only action that he or the vigilante as done? If I were the serial killer, someone else would have died last night, I was probably the most active poster yesterday <doh>

It could easily be argued that in addition to Danilo you did murder that joke.

Grandmaster or just Mason does it make any real difference? MITO does Mason just step into shoes of Grandmaster if the Grandmaster is killed? If so, why bother changing that bit?

Gerrez could be hacking as why would Police announce warrant being issued for a killer?

For the time being and subject to persuasion

I VOTE SWARBS

Read post [HASHTAG]#636[/HASHTAG]

Also, remember the rules from page 1:

"The mafia can hire a tech to hack the newspaper, but like all papers they will change their password from their mother’s birthday to some alphanumerical combo that’s impossible to guess.

This means that on day 2 and afterwards you have one chance to change what is said in the paper. You can say anything but you can only say it once."

If the Mafia can only hack the paper once, then I assume this means that only one of the Mafias can actually hack. Therefore it will be essentially a race between the Mafias to hack the paper first and get their own misdirection in. Which means we can't trust the paper on the day it is printed, we need to wait until the next day to see if the paper reports being hacked.

By all means put me under suspicion, but it is foolish to lynch me on the basis of a hacked newspaper when you can simply wait until tomorrow and be 100% sure whether I am innocent or guilty.

Ok, so an assumption seems to have been made that I can investigate people. I cant! The journalist is the key for the town here and so tomorrow's newspaper is a really important one.

I'm going to stay quiet for a while in terms of strategy for today while I see what everyone else suggests and then I'll step in and give my 2p.

That paper is complete bullshit.

My thoughts are quite simple.

1. I'm innocent
2. The paper says Bod was the Masons Grandmaster when he was only a member
3. The serial killer didn't kill last night, and the major crimes unit was only formed on the first night. So there is absolutely no chance the police could have identified Greez as the serial killer

Looks to me like one of the Mafia's has hacked the paper and made some elementary errors in an effort to get us to lynch one of me or Greez tonight.

There's two simple ways to provide this:

1. The serial killer issue should easily be confirmed by afc, as he has access to the police investigator so can confirm whether or not the police actually identified Gerrez as the serial killer
2. The journo will change his password tonight, and the paper tomorrow will say it was hacked and give us the right information.

So I say we do what we did in the last game and wait and see - if afc confirms the police identifed Greez, and the paper tomorrow doesn't report a hack, lynch me then, I'm not going anywhere!

In the meantime, I think we should follow the strategy of afc identifying two or three people to put up for lynching. He now has an even more important role - he knows who he arrested last night, who he will arrest tonight, and who was actually investigated by the police last night so he can best direct our efforts.

Stick with the plan, and don't let an obvious Mafia hack distract us from finding the real bad guys <ok>

Agreed that AFC's input will be vital here. I'm happy to wait and see things out until the chief has spoken <ok> However even if AFC thinks todays paper is fake is it not possible the journo has been recruited and tomorrows could be leading us down a slippery slope too? If todays is fake then can we trust the paper from now on? How much would be needed to recruit the journo and do we have a rough idea how much each mafia team have left? Can't be arsed even trying to work that out myself <laugh> [HASHTAG]#jobforastrosmaths[/HASHTAG]

FFS <doh> so our top cop can't investigate? This is too close to the real world for my liking <grr>

No one has been recruited yet though according to what mito has told us from the nights actions.

Of of a recruit was made we'd be told, although obviously not who by...

Ok, I assumed that this meant you would get some investigative powers:

"4. Major crimes division. The cop can choose if he wishes to set up a major crimes unit (one person joins the cops) This is costly as it will require setting up a tech division but it does add some more powers and a team mate to work with. One person has been selected to be this extra police already. They will be a townsperson day one, after that anything could happen."

Can you at least confirm what the extra powers you have gained from setting up this unit? The paper is definitely identifying Greez as the serial killer based on a police investigation, so are you saying that the genuine journo would have no evidence based on any such investigation?

I thought we worked out from the money that the Russian mafia don't have enough left to recruit anyone for another couple of nights? I'm sure someone did the [HASHTAG]#maths[/HASHTAG] a few pages back after Nozzer was lynched.

Surely, (stop calling me Shirley) the Mafia can each hack and, therefore, hack on two occasions. Also what if journo has been recruited by Mafia as Billy says then we may be waiting forever for the truth. And the longer we delay the more we can be picked off. Also we seem to be developing plan of leaving decisions until tomorrow.

True....so when MITO gets back we ask if recruitments were made (if he can tell us one way or another). If he says not made then we can be sure we can trust tomorrows paper....unless a recruitment is made tonight of course <wah> Hard work all this <laugh>

The rules mention it costing different amounts for hitman kills ("The hitman can go after the cop but the price is huge") but it doesn't say recruiting is any more expensive for different roles ("Recruiting a new Mafiosi will cost 50k")

We know that the vigilante loses his power if his identity is revealed ("if the vigilante admits he is a vigilante however he loses all his cash and bullets"). It is possible other roles also lose powers if publicly identified. We know the journalist is like a witness but cannot be seen by those he witnesses, but it would make sense for him to lose this ability if everyone knows who he is.

Hmmm... its a shame we don't have a witness statement from last night. I renounce my vote for Swarbs, he has convinced me enough so far. I'm going for Magic being so quiet

I thought MITO said once the password has been changed once the paper can't be hacked again. The op says "like all papers they will change their password from their mother’s birthday to some alphanumerical combo that’s impossible to guess".

As Bisc says we don't know recruitments have been made yet (I'm sure in previous games we were always told) but it could happen tonight. What we needed from AFC was confirmation of Swarbs theory but doesn't look like that's coming so maybe AFC has suspicions about Swarbs himself?

There are many people asking and I am on phone

I hope this answers a few

1. Journo cannot be witness and cannot be in two places at once

2. I will tell you if an arrest is made after all it's public

3. I will tell you if someone is recruited and which team as per prior games

4. I will not state how much money anyone has

5. Were there other questions?

Will be home and tally votes for 1pm
