Sorry to piss on your parade. Linking the improvement to council owned social housing to the KC stadium is so wide of the mark it is embarrassing. All social housing providers in the country had to sign up to the "Descent Homes Standard 2015". Existing housing had to be improved to set standards. NHE was the first Housing Action Trust in the country and it was awarded £158m of government funding to improve its approx 4000 properties. Estates such as Gypsyville were improved by loans taken out from the Housing Corporation at a zero percent interest rate, all of which led to an increase on the rents paid and just in case you think that those who bought their houses after the improvements benefited, they didn't. All improvements made where added on to the discounted sale price. It is a shallow argument, the only people to benefit from the KC sale were those who sold multiple shares at the best rate, you know just the sort of people who don't live in social housing.
I didn't know any of that, but i remember as a kid having to scrape the ice off the inside of my bedroom window, happy to say that my parents ( both in their 80's ) still in the same house now have central heating, double glazing and loft insulation.
I have yet to see, from the Allam Acolytes, such as Happy Tiger and Chazz, how they gain any perception of Allam and his miserable name-change campaign as anything other than dishonest, unnecessary, vindictive (initially against HCC, but it soon grew to his customers) and thoroughly divisive. I think it has now got to the point where those who masquerade as supporters of his so-called business genius, should admit they have been having an internet jape, a bit of mischief that Allam has taken too far. This is now in real danger of seriously damaging our club and it needs to be stopped, not fed on these forums. A bit of drift by yourself there as you seem to think that the cost of their rent every five years paid for the cost of their house and any subsequent maintenance. Most council houses were built with loans which up to 60 years to repay. Why is anyone owning their own house lucky or wealthy? Some people gave up other things in order to buy a house, which was easier to then than it is now.
Too damn right, I'm trying to save for a deposit on a house, but even with a 10% deposit, saving up £70k/£80k ain't easy. The mortgage would then also be higher than the rent I'm paying now.
The lease and documents relating to the KC stadium and arena, beginning to end, should be placed in the public domain ,imo. Who is to decide what is and isn't sensitive and to whom it is sensitive? I bet it's one of those Assets of community value things that can't be tampered without the express permission of the #clintflask 'til I die brigade and we can all have a good belly laugh at "pay me". Unless someone on the committee of wise men forgot to add that in to the application for this lauded status. If the Airco does not have the status of an asset of community value in the eyes of someone or other or maybe the group as a whole entity. Then on that basis, Assem Allam will boot the tenants out and tell them to gtf. He will put the best case forward for obtaining free money and increasing the sale price of his business. Mind your own business, business as usual as far as "pay me" is concerned. Here's an idea, maybe that new supporters trust group could match his best offer, tell him to fxxk off and then let the kiddies play on the trampolines all day and let the fat birds roller skate/blade until their dizzy. The Hull City Supporters Trust should come out with a press release fully supporting HULL CITY, unless of course they don't on this single issue only. Do the HCST have an official position on this? Will they be releasing a press release on this situation fully supporting HULL CITY? The committee could have an emergency meeting or a vote or summat and decide how best a pro Allam community group should respond. Good luck with that.
why is a protest march bad? i remember when the arena was full of all different sports badminton clubs, basketball, 5 a side, use to be in use all the time city even use to run holiday camps there and the the pitches... it's all a joke we can return to the club when it's back to decencyn
I'm sure it was said at the time the money would go on the houses on Longhill being up dated as they had metal windows, may be wrong. NHE was getting done up long before the KC money, again i think.
There is a marked difference between the different estates and how the improvements were funded. I am not saying that no KC money was used, but it wasn't a case that every house improvement was funded by it. Many properties were taken over by housing associations as well.
I don't know the cost per house of those in NHE but as they were built in the 1930's i am fairly sure that they will have paid for themselfs many times over. A new house in Sutton Park was around 2000 pound in the early 70's when they were built, by the mid 80's they were worth 20k, now it would be worth about 100,000k. Fortunate would have been a more appropiate word rather than lucky.
10% of a house is £70k/£80k wow, i guess your not in Hull. For that much you could buy a house outright. ( may not be the biggest or best )

Why is someone who might have foregone holidays and regular nights out to buy a house fortunate? When I bought my first house in the 70s there were lots of people living in council houses earning far more than I was. Dockers for example. When you mention council houses apart from the loan interest don't forget the cost of maintenance, repairs, updating etc. Not to mention the uncollected rents.
Its the old adage "if something is too good to be true, then it probably is " This fits the coming of Allam to a tee.You couldn't have made it up, the greatest shining knight in history, not only riding to Hull Citys rescue but bestowing his riches on the wider community, and all because he was grateful to the local people for allowing him to stay here and build his life after escaping persecution in his homeland. Well I was sceptical, to say the least, from the off, and as his plans and his PR talents slowly unfolded and unravelled more and more people began to see the emperors new clothes for what they were.Allam is undoubtedly a dangerous man and I think City need shot of him, on the balance sheet of life, his debit column is starting to make him a liability
