    with 10 to go using the last 10 games as the form guide
    wfc 66 + 22 = 88pts
    nor 65 + 22 = 87pts
    mid 66 + 19 = 85pts
    der 66 + 18 = 84pts
    bou 66 + 15 = 81 pts
    bre 62 + 16= 78pts

    but if we us the guide of bodbo on a draw if you play a top 8 side a win all the rest then

    bou 66+2 draws + 8x3 = 92pts
    nor 65+2 draws +8x3 = 91pts
    wfc 66+3draws + 7x3= 90pts
    bre 62 +1 draw +9x3 = 90pts
    der 66 + 5draws+5x3= 86pts
    mid 66 +6 draws+4x3=84pts

    as everyone knows its going to be close and one or two results can make all all the difference

    after sat results things are starting to unfold using current home and away form them

    wfc = 91 pts
    nor =86 pts
    bou =86 pts
    mid =85 pts
    der =82 pts
    bre =78 pts

    it would be nice to go up with a game to spare lol

    but if we use the guide of bodbo of a draw for playing a top 8 side and winning the rest then its like this

    bou = 92 pts
    nor = 91 pts
    wfc = 90 pts
    bre = 87 pts
    mid = 86 pts
    der = 83 pts

    we all know that any team that wins all 9 games will go up apart from maybe brentford

    I would be very surprised if teams that finish in the top two do not lose two games before the end of the season. The only draws that can be added to those two defeats are in matches against rivals.

    i agree i think the team that takes the top spot will have to win 7 or 8 games but with 4 still in the mix we need close to 90 for the 2ond spot

    The one thing that worries me is that both of our Easter fixtures are on Sky as we've only won once this season when we've been on the box, away to Fulham. We've lost all of the others.

    we need at least 8 points from the next 4 games that would put us no more than 3 pts off the 2ond place

    Well, 3 games closer and 7 points gained - seems too good to be true! It is, but i'll come to that in a minute.
    Going on form over last 5,8 & 10 games, we are top. (* 'cos there's 8 games to go)
    So, if form from last 8 is maintained over final 8 games, then we get...
    WFC 91
    boro 85
    Norwich 84
    bournemouth 82
    Brentford 78
    Derby 76
    Wolves 76.

    It just so happens that our last 3 games have seen...
    A well-earned draw at molineux that could have gone either way, though we finished stronger.
    A win against a team of schoolboys
    A win against a team who haven't win at home since August.

    whilst Derby, boro, Bournemouth and the rest Norwich been bashing hell out of each other. Our turn to come!

    So I reckon that if we can get 5 points (1 win 2 draws) or better from next 3, and 4 wins from remaining 5, we'll have 89 points.
    Is it good enough ? Who knows, but probably, given that the current best team (in my opinion) are boro, whio have the hardest programme.

    Apparently, Danny finkelstein is writing a column in Saturdays Times about this exact conundrum.

    as everyone knows there is still very little in it between the top sides and boro are winning the hard games ipswich and derby have little current form if we could win them then a draw would be ok for both boro and us

    Based on this since Xmas results table The three form teams are Watford, Boro and Norwich. The other play off teams have all significantly poorer form ......

    any 2 from 3 for automatic promotion places???

    Or the team that has the slightest dip will falter.

    I am optimistic given our strength in depth and the different tactical options open to us....

    I am hopeful, no more, that we do not have to fight it out in the play-offs.

    1. I am on holiday when they are being played, and do not wish to spend that time searching for a signal.
    2. Teams that are promoted through the play-offs are disadvantaged by having several weeks less to prepare.
    3. Too much stress at my age. :emoticon-0145-shake

    ......and 4. Wembley is now an expensive, soul-less, atmosphere lacking, corporate bowl.

    About now is when we traditionally start to drop points. Hopefully, under SJ we won't do that this season.
