Ended up upside down in my first car at 17 years old on my way to work at 6 in the morning. It was -5 with a foot of snow on the ground. Anyone else who's done it? Everything just seems slow motion. Had CD's and all sorts in and around your head.

Putting your hand on the roof to cushion the fall is a strange experience. Then had to climb out one of the rear windows because it was the only one to smash.

About 5 cars drove past and not one stopped as I was waving them down. Luckily I was fine just shocked.

Me mother wasn't overly impressed getting a phonecall at 6am saying my car was on its roof needless to say!!

Wish there was a empathy button as like feels wrong. That's horrible fella. Hope you can shrug off the guilt, not everybody is savable fella and nowt will stop a good grandfatha playing with his grandkids. If he were here now he'd tell you these things happen and that he left this world with one last great experience. Spending time with his grandson. People leave this world alone and crippled with regret. He'd count himself lucky he went with the people he loved around him. He'd know his life served purpose and wouldn't want you blaming yourself.

You're good man, you don't deserve this guilt.

My daughter has dumped her first proper boyfriend today so I've had a few cans tonight and I never drink! Not the best thing to do when reading your post mate. Really appreciate it and it's made me see it from a side I've never looked at before, I've been so engulfed in my own guilt about it. Never talked about it before to be honest, seen it all though, defibrillators the lot, wasn't something I'll ever forget. Gets me to some dark places at times when I relive it but I know that's normal, just got to man up eh...

The anniversary of his death is March 21st, that's why I've been thinking about it a lot lately. 2003, 12 years ago, honestly feels like yesterday mate.

My older brother mate, same time about 6 in the morning. He was heading towards testos roundabout towards Boldon doing 70mph and skidded off the road, car doing flips and smashed into a lamppost, the car was completely crushed. He somehow managed to army crawl through to the back and kick through the already smashed back windscreen to climb out. We've got photos of it and how he walked away from that with just scratches is a miracle.

My mother broke down when see turned up and seen the extent of the damage of the car. It was unbelievable

One ****ing tough car, but i managed to destroy it, when i introduced it to some trees.

Honestly reckon that car saved my life, if i had been driving a saloon car, i'd be a goner.

been in a works van which turned over ,it was all the bloody tools and gear which done all the damage, black and blue all over,(no not black and decker)

I will never forget what my uncle albert said when he tried to swim across the boating lake with an anvil strapped to his chest....................GLUG

Diabetic Keto-acidosis nearly killed me 4 times in my younger days before they invented insulin pumps!! Once I was violently out of it (my then girlfriend told me afterwards) and punching and kicking everyone in view - had no idea and still can't remember but I "died" twice that night (heart stopped) and they brought me back!

Two non diabetic related ones - Playing on my sons scooter about 4 years ago thought "this is easy - bet I can bunny hop" I did - and went over the handlebars and landed on my head - swelling on the brain and induced coma for 2 days but was out within a week and fine within a few weeks - the other one was a bad car crash where I hit someone head on on the A167 near the red lion coming out of Durham (Kimblesworth turn off for anyone who knows it) - was out for 14 hours and still have no idea but had an out of body experience and saw the whole accident from around 15 foot in the air to the middle of the dual carriage-way - vivid, terrifying memory!
Yeh know the road well mate lived there it's a nastie little slow bit at the bottom of kimma bank.drive it most days <bubbly>

Reminds me of the time in 1971 I was on a roof pointing the chimney.i ran out of compo so my mate went to get some.after about an hour he didn't turn up.when I went to look for him the van was stuck under a low loader.i found him sitting in a house drinking tea no worse for his escapade.but the place where I may have been sitting was squashed under the lorry and the van was a write off.good job I stayed on the roof.<bubbly>

I had my youngest son down to visit, in Provence, and he was due to fly back with me to go to Wigan away ..... I think it was the 4-1 win.
However, a client asked if we could take a Mercedes sports car back for him and I jumped at the chance.

My son was worried that he'd miss his first day at University so I explained how long it would take, said we'd take the Tunnel, etc etc etc.
We reached a long straight road, near Avignon, but as the car was RHD I couldn't see to overtake.
So I asked Richard, who was in the passenger seat, "Are we clear?"

He said we were so I floored it & pulled out at around 80mph to find an articulated lorry yards from my screen <yikes>

I somehow managed to avoid a collision and came to rest in a cloud of dust.

I asked Richard why the fck he'd said we were clear and he said, "I thought you were asking about the travel arrangements!" <doh>
