Ended up upside down in my first car at 17 years old on my way to work at 6 in the morning. It was -5 with a foot of snow on the ground. Anyone else who's done it? Everything just seems slow motion. Had CD's and all sorts in and around your head. Putting your hand on the roof to cushion the fall is a strange experience. Then had to climb out one of the rear windows because it was the only one to smash. About 5 cars drove past and not one stopped as I was waving them down. Luckily I was fine just shocked. Me mother wasn't overly impressed getting a phonecall at 6am saying my car was on its roof needless to say!!
My daughter has dumped her first proper boyfriend today so I've had a few cans tonight and I never drink! Not the best thing to do when reading your post mate. Really appreciate it and it's made me see it from a side I've never looked at before, I've been so engulfed in my own guilt about it. Never talked about it before to be honest, seen it all though, defibrillators the lot, wasn't something I'll ever forget. Gets me to some dark places at times when I relive it but I know that's normal, just got to man up eh... The anniversary of his death is March 21st, that's why I've been thinking about it a lot lately. 2003, 12 years ago, honestly feels like yesterday mate.
My older brother mate, same time about 6 in the morning. He was heading towards testos roundabout towards Boldon doing 70mph and skidded off the road, car doing flips and smashed into a lamppost, the car was completely crushed. He somehow managed to army crawl through to the back and kick through the already smashed back windscreen to climb out. We've got photos of it and how he walked away from that with just scratches is a miracle. My mother broke down when see turned up and seen the extent of the damage of the car. It was unbelievable
I had one of these (but in white) please log in to view this image One ****ing tough car, but i managed to destroy it, when i introduced it to some trees. Honestly reckon that car saved my life, if i had been driving a saloon car, i'd be a goner.
been in a works van which turned over ,it was all the bloody tools and gear which done all the damage, black and blue all over,(no not black and decker)
I will never forget what my uncle albert said when he tried to swim across the boating lake with an anvil strapped to his chest....................GLUG
Bloody Hell Comm , I had you down as an Eco warrior do you realise what those things do to the planet (apart from damaging trees)
Yeh know the road well mate lived there it's a nastie little slow bit at the bottom of kimma bank.drive it most days
Reminds me of the time in 1971 I was on a roof pointing the chimney.i ran out of compo so my mate went to get some.after about an hour he didn't turn up.when I went to look for him the van was stuck under a low loader.i found him sitting in a house drinking tea no worse for his escapade.but the place where I may have been sitting was squashed under the lorry and the van was a write off.good job I stayed on the roof.
I had my youngest son down to visit, in Provence, and he was due to fly back with me to go to Wigan away ..... I think it was the 4-1 win. However, a client asked if we could take a Mercedes sports car back for him and I jumped at the chance. My son was worried that he'd miss his first day at University so I explained how long it would take, said we'd take the Tunnel, etc etc etc. We reached a long straight road, near Avignon, but as the car was RHD I couldn't see to overtake. So I asked Richard, who was in the passenger seat, "Are we clear?" He said we were so I floored it & pulled out at around 80mph to find an articulated lorry yards from my screen I somehow managed to avoid a collision and came to rest in a cloud of dust. I asked Richard why the fck he'd said we were clear and he said, "I thought you were asking about the travel arrangements!"
