    Shaw was in the PFA Team of the Year last year (I thought Baines had a better season, but still), so can't say he's overhyped. Plus he's 19!

    Jamie Redknapp points out that Luke Shaw is not progressing at United, unlike Clyne at Southampton. He suggests he may be over trained and struggling to play under instruction. This failure to progress away from Saints has been mentioned by Koeman in connection with Clyne.

    I would also say, what a fantastic refereeing performance....spotting diving cheats, booking them and then sending off the most expensive (flop) player in the prem league at Old Trafford with Rooney shouting in your face was probably the best bit of refereeing I have seen.

    That's just it. He is a good player. Not a great one. If supporters say he is rubbish, that's just football fan speak for him being a bit of a disappointment, in their opinion.

    As a consistent critic of referees, I feel it important to give praise when it's due. Mr Oliver was undoubtedly man of the match last night. He got all the major decisions right, whilst resisting the clamour of the theatre of cheats..
