I read some loon on the radio from villa saying teams up and down the country had this all the time before what's the big deal.... There was fences around pitches for this

Finally see Italy if we want our grounds to look like this cos villa fans want to be old school fine

 

MOTD has a contract for Saturday and Sunday. They don't have a contract for Monday

While it was extremely stupid to have mots for one game I'm sure the bbc felt they had to keep up the tradition or something

 

Just want to say pitch invasions, men wanting to have standing areas and singing sections are all throw backs

I reckon there are at this point two groupings which are to my mind very big generalisations but they do exist

Those who how only know all seater stadiums and those who remember terraces.... I feel that a lot of issues brought up about football like people refusing to sit down at games, people demanding controlled standing areas in stadia and so forth are men tearyeyed remembering how it was

I must say though they seem to be educating a small amount of young lads with them though...

I think if you look at most home grounds you'll have a big mix in the crowd and many many who'd be horrified and scared sitting in the stands opposite last night

I think an away crowd group is different, has a different mix, usually more male, more into singing and shouting whatever, more boisterous and in lfC case the only lot who ever set off flares which gets our club in trouble... It's huge generalisation of course as lots of women travel too

Villa imo have a bunch of dinosaurs as fans who passed down all the bad habits it seems.

 

Final world I reckon villa semi final will have reduced ticket allocation and increased policing that their slice will have to pay for

I hope they enjoyed their fun and Delph tasted nice....

It's plain stupid, and the presenters and commentators are just as guilty.
They might technically be going to Wembley, but so what? Everyone knows that the phrase was used as a catchphrase meaning "we're in the FA Cup Final", and clearly they're not so it's no big deal.

As you say, any success is welcome at Villa atm, but the reaction to getting to a semi-final was way over the top and sadly, could have serious repercussions for all clubs.

 

Just ban identifiable fans from football. Ban all Villa fans from the Wembley semi-final. It will never happen again.

If the FA fine Villa £30,000 they should face legal action themselves for effectively encouraging it.

It was football fans running on the pitch not hooligans tearing the place to pieces ffs. They were overjoyed after such a ****e season appears to have taken a turn for them and a trip to Wembley beckons.

Yes they shouldn't have done it, yes it was daft, but some of the pious ****e that's come out since would have you think there was a full blown riot.

It's how the authorities see it that counts- not what actually happened. Yes, they were mostly good-natured, but what if they weren't?
What it suggested was that the stewards and the plod were incapable of controlling them without it turning ugly, and that could set alarm bells ringing in the usual places.

 

So Suarez bites a player and it's the worst thing ever but thousands of fans storming a pitch to bite and assault players is "overjoyed"

But what's stopping someone running onto the pitch and punching someone? Or god forbid even worse....

Yes they are all football fans, but we know what football fans can get like when in a big group, they tend to think most things are acceptable and you won't get caught or have to pay the penalty.

Hard to blame the club as 50 stewards aren't going to be able to stop 3000 people running onto the field but FA need to do something that punishes the fans rather than the club... Reducing the tickets available for the FA Cup semi by the rough amount that entered the pitch would be one way of doing it....

 

If fans want to invade the pitch stewards as never going to stop them, merely due to the weight of numbers.

The fact that it was good natured is entirely the point and adding a narrative that simply wasn't present would be ridiculous. I'm sure the FA will hand out a fine, but people really need to get a grip and keep the issue completely in perspective
