You're right there dids. There isn't a brief in the land who won't have advised him to give a no comment interview until there is presentable evidence. It's up to the CP to prove him Guilty not for AJ to prove himself innocent. If they had a single shred presentable evidence they'd have re arrested him by now. So far there's no gray areas. Just the CP giving themselves time to try and build a case. But if something does come up, we'll know as they'll haul him straight back in.
Bit one sided that bud. The most likely reason for bail, probably over 95% of the time is for the solicitor and client to go away and assess the accusations against the client and come back for re-hearing with a prepared statement. There's a massive chance he had legal representation there and just went no-comment anyway, there's no chance he was in the room answering questions alone, he'll have had some legal rep in there with him, if not his own solicitor.
Two weeks is nothing for forensics though, and we know they were on the scene. Until the forensics come back, the solicitor will tell him to avoid all questions for sure, unless of course, he absolutely did not do it and can provide an alibi or story to be backed up with CCTV.
Once they have forensics to assess, they'll compile their defence.
I reckon, unless he's given this alibi/evidence to prove his whereabouts to blow her out of the water, this case will be adjourned for a while again, pending forensics.
I don't get you mate, I never said he didn't have representation, there's no way in he'll have allowed himself to be questioned without his brief. Besides, you echoed my sentiments in most parts. I'm just stating how it works. I've been nicked more times than enough and know the procedure. I've never given my side of the story first interview, in most part I haven't had to explain myself at all. Plus I've never seen the inside of a courtroom to this day.
They won't interview you alone if you've request representation and will give you as much time as you want with your brief before they talk to you. Before you speak to your brief, he/she has already spoken to the leading investigator, obtained copies of all evidence and assessed it before speaking to you and are ready to advise you. Nothing to do with bail. The way bail works based on these conditions. Is the suspect a danger to themselves? Is the suspect a danger to others? Is there a risk they could abscond or fail to surrender bail? Do they have an address to be bailed to? Is there a likely hood they'll come into contact with witnesses. He doesn't need to present an alibi until they've presented him with evidence. Innocent until proven guilty, to talk to them would be insane.
They'll be compiling there evidence now mate, well at least trying to. Forensics could take months. But in the meantime the first thing the the investigators will have set about doing is placing his vehicle to the scene of the crime to correspond with the witness' statement. Pick his registration up at the time and location anywhere on near by CCTV and AJ will be back in like a shot and he'll have to start talking. They'll have gone to the crime scene too to try and find any evidence, like tire tracks. The coppers will be combing every bit of CCTV footage they can find. He won't provide an alibi until he needs to.
So basically without evidence, AJ could get off without ever having to give his side of the story, which is how it should be under the innocence until proven guilty sentiments. If he's innocent, there wouldn't much of a story to give anyway.
Then you'll clearly know far more about this than me mate and I'll bow to your experience.

My first paragraph was what his brief and the journalist was saying, about how police have had to change their practices coz its all so high profile these days, and the second para was what Paul G said himself, that in his view they were sat around for over a year, bailing him every few months or so, hoping for more women to come forward to strengthen their case.

Like I said to Bri mate, I don't know anything, I'm just highlighting the fact that I'd be just as reluctant to back him as I would to condemn him based on nothing concrete at this point, for the public to go on.

Has he been accused of doing something on a specific occasion, at a specific time, 'cos I haven't heard that this is the case ?

Little village just near Kendal spend all our time walking and trying differant pubs coffee shops and restaurants + work aswell its a differant world up here up over potters tarn last wednesday and into wilfs cafe down by the river with the brewery next door and its the beer festival this weekend.

We did a couple of big walks last year 20 miles plus, Cheviots & Nidderdale, and planning the Borders and the Lakes this year.
It's still a struggle after 20 years in the south of France but we're settling in I reckon.
