Well, it won't be Gibson now, surely?

Apparently, he's going to Stoke, so maybe we will bring back Whitehead, i know we all love him...Naaaaaat.

About time, how about Nistleroy, short term? Hutton long term would even take junior campbell.

Sunderland have completed the signing of Welsh international David Vaughan after the midfielder's contract expired at Blackpool.

The 28 year-old was one of the Tangerines' star performers last season as Ian Holloway's side gave a creditable account of themselves in the club's debut season in the Barclays Premier League - succumbing to relegation by the narrowest of margins after the final round of fixtures.

The former Crewe and Real Sociedad man has signed a three-year deal on Wearside to become Sunderland's ninth permanent signing of the summer alongside Keiren Westwood, Sebastian Larsson, Ji Dong-Won, Craig Gardner, Connor Wickham, Wes Brown, John O'Shea and Ahmed Elmohamady, who agreed a three-year deal in June after an initial 12-month loan spell.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce said: "David was excellent throughout last season, including both games against us, so it's only natural that he caught the attention of a number of top clubs.

"We're delighted that he sees his future at Sunderland. His experience, grit and energy in midfield will be valuable assets to us and we're now looking forward to him joining up with the squad for pre-season training."

Should hopefully cheer Syd up as he was pissed off at 6:15 this morning as we hadn't signed anyone in the wee hours!!

Good solid signing (wouldn't get in the Newcastle squad though!)

Hello, first post. I think Bruce is building a cracking squad and squad is the key here. (Pure speculation here) I think he has been told it's europe or the sack for Bruce this season and so he is building a squad capable of challenging for a 6th or 7th place finish plus push for a cup. I think we'll see alot more of signings such as Vaughan and Ji Dong Won in the cups rather than the league.
    Exciting times.

    He's ****ing ****e man.

If you buy players from a relegated team, you'll get relegated.
He was only a big fish in the Blackpool small pond.
At 28 he's only got months left in his legs.
A 3-year contract is far too long.
His bird is still in Blackpool, she works in a chippy on the sea front, if they come back up he'll demand a transfer back to them.
He's Welsh, got nothing in common with the north east, he sees us as a stepping stone to Man Utd/Chelsea/Barcelona/Wrexham/etc.

It's a slow work day here, and Chappaz is a busy man, I thought I'd do his work for him :emoticon-0116-evilg

Aye, he's a funny un our Chappy.

He has, in the past put foreward some very well thought out & well reasoned points.

But...........,his obvious bitterness towards our transfers has manifested to the point of a very large boil.

All teams have different requirements, ours badly needed experience, that's what we've got
& a little bit of flair & skill as well.

I don't go on their board slagging off their signings. Would have loved Demba Ba here as I have said before.

Don't know owt about the French lads, maybe they will all turn out to be Terry Henry's or Viera's.

I like to save my bragging/slagging/gloating untill after the event.

Haway Chapz man, you can be a canny lad when you try.
