I went to Melbourne City against Melbourne Victory mate.

The standard was awful. I'd prefer to see something of a decent quality, regardless of my understanding.
 
Hylton Castle Club in the sunlan and district Sunday football league,assuming they still do have a football team (remember the days of George (Crogga) Crosby,Spuggy Spence,both good players (but then again there were a lot of very good players in local football circles in the sixties and early seventies).I am certain David Rush turned out for Hylton Castle on a few occasions.(although in a much later ERA)
Other than that Barmstonworth United from ripping yarns.
But once smitten its SAFC all day long

I need to know a little more about it, intrigued but I can imagine I'll give up on it pretty quickly.

I love Rugby league and to a lesser extent Union and at a push... Cricket. Footie I imagine will only get bigger and better in Aus as well so that could become an option later.

I'll be laughing for stuff to watch.

Rugby league is a fav of mine, state of origin (Qld vs Nsw) is an awesome spectacle! AFL is very hard to follow mate.When league finishes cricket starts. Miss the old commentary team though. Richie benaud, tony greg bill lawry. We'll get to a game mate, as you say plenty to choose from! What team does your missus support?

AFL, have seen some good one off games on the TV over here in Oz, it,s not too bad but not a real game, the don,t make many clean catches when it comes to it (marks) it,s a bit like schoolboy football where everyone chase the ball all together, Aussie soccer league is also poor about very bottom of championship or league 1 at best.

Aussie rules is basically "If you catch it you can kick it" that's about all you need to know.
It was an Irish game but they had to simplify it so that the Aussies could understand it.

There'll be plenty of local things following you mate, such as killer spiders, snakes and crocs, you'll have no time for trivial things such as sports.
