Hull always seen to have more fight than us so I expect a lost.

I have to say I'm not a fan of Poyet but you can't really blame the bloke for a two nil defeat at Old Trafford, in the grand scheme of things it's pretty much a par score for the likes of us away to a top team, getting anything from that game would have been a bonus. If we don't turn in a decent performance and pick up some points against Hull in midweek, that's the time to be calling for his head it would give us 10 days to reorganize before the next game but to be fair there are no real obvious realistic candidates and I'd be shocked if we got rid of him even if we lose midweek.

I don't think anybody has done that? My reason for keeping him is I believe we need stability and if given time and I mean a few years managers generally get it right. Moyes at Everton and SAF at Man Utd really struggled to begin with but stuck to their beliefs and slowly went about building a squad and long term success and stability, I get the feeling we could get that with Poyet, that's all.

For the most part I agree with you GM. I don't see us replacing Gus now. It's too late and there's no one of real calibre out there.

Where I disagree is about losing 2-0 at Utd, inasmuch as the manner of the loss. I'd have no issue with a lower-level team that went to any of the top 5 or 6 teams and lost 2-0 if they at least tried to make a game of it, and went with the intention of at least trying to get a hard-fought win or well-deserved draw. We did neither.

To be fair, the first half wasn't too bad, but the second half was a gutless and clueless demonstration of football from a very very poor team.

Personally I think if you go down 1-0 in the second half at one of the top 4, the confidence they get from that first goal means you know they're gonna throw everything at you. At that point you must change the game plan and just go for it! Not keep playing it slowly from the back and meekly takingit up the jacksy!

Fat Sam might not be the worst appointment, he may well be able to turn Wickham into the target man he's got the potential to be and build a team around that, the problem is would he want to come and if so would he come straight away? Beyond that I don't see any other obvious long term solutions so we'd be looking at another short term fix to get us out of trouble again, it might be worth getting Kevin Ball as caretaker until the summer and then find someone to take us forward then, that way we'd get committed performances, a possible lift from a new manager and we'd have time to find the right man for the job.

I think the first half was OK considdering we're clearly struggling for form but United came out and got at us at the start of the second half which was always likely to happen to be fair and losing the goal and Brown just killed us off. If we had just lost the goal and not gone down to ten men as well I'd agree with you and say we should be trying to get at united in the last half hour but it would have been totally irresponsible to throw men forward and risk getting thumped 3 or 4 when down to ten men, it would have been no good for confidence or goal difference which could be crucial with how tight it is at the bottom.

Man u and Everton are good examples of sticking with managers, is it a balanced argument though? Are there no clubs where sticking by a manager has been bad for them? If not why isn't everyone sticking with managers?

We've won 1 in 12, if that's not a sinking ship I don't know what is. We need to change something soon.

Don't see why it would have been irresponsible though. That's my point. Your behind at a top 4 club, their heads are up, and you're a man down. There's no chance of winning and you're very likely to ship another couple of goals.

I reckon he would come straight away, his contract isnt being renewed and west ham are lining up moyes, they would put a caretaker in until then, hopefully just jumping the gun and we maul the tigers on tuesday, i dont want to see gus fail

Just looking at the table we're 2 goals better off than QPR and 4 better than Burnley it would just be crazy to chase a game with ten men away to a top team and risk letting that advantage slip especially in a game we never really looked like scoring in with 11 men, maybe try to stay within a goal of them and then throw men forward in the last 5 - 10 minutes, but the game was already put to bed by that point.

And that right there is what's wrong with modern football. 12 games and your ready to sack the manager. Didn't Pardew have a similar record at Newcastle this season before he steadied the 'sinking ship'?

We need long term support and stability not job reviews after every 10 games or whatever.

Burnley go down against Chelsea and, I think Man City. They don't buckle under. They go for it and get the point. Points are better than goal difference in my book.

So am i, drawing half your games makes you hard to beat for sure, we need to start turning them into wins starting on tuesday, hull were garbage yesterday
