Me too because all teams 3rd to 7th/8th are nothing special.

Thought there were a lot of plus points today, esp big Vic, his overall play speed and mobility has improved no end. Ron will play 2 up top from now on against most teams in my opinion

I agree . If I appear to be a doom monger for thinking we will most likely finish 6th _ 8th , then that is a shame . I am really pleased with where we are right now , I simply don't think we can sustain it .

Its totally in our hands which is great but we HAVE to find a new formation to give the attack some fresh impetus and until we do we are only going to keep slipping. We haven't been unlucky in every game. Quite the opposite at times. It really is quite desperate.

I'll repeat what I wrote on the match thread, because I absolutely stand by this -

The thing that really gets my goat is this arrogant presumption from their side (manager and fans) that it's almost like the natural order has reestablished itself - they'll push on to get third and we'll drift down to eighth.

The worst part is that we somehow appear to have tapped into our own insecurities and are believing them too.

Look, I saw nothing at all to suggest that they were better than us in the slightest. Quite the opposite. Bar a couple of hideous refereeing decisions they'd be 7 points behind us now. A stroke of luck and Elia would have buried a couple of chances too, even without Mr Friend putting his contacts in. Yet a heavily ref-influenced bad result seems to have given us our small club mentality back. Well here's a thing. Last time I checked, we were still above Liverpool in the league, with matches against the likes of Palace, Burnley and QPR coming up - teams that with a fair wind, and going by this season, we should beat.

We may not do, in which case the doom-mongering is fair. But how many times have we heard that "the bubble has burst" and then come back with a streak of wins?

I think it's time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down, and go again. COYR.

We're in a good position with plenty points for grabs, so top 4 finish is surely within reach. But playing the way we play lately...it's a very slim chance, but still time to turn it around.

Something fresh in the attack and a bit of confidence/technique for pelle and we will be back in business.

A lot of fighting talk on here. I like it. Let's hope the players are thinking the same way.

Love it when he says "We are Southampton ..."

Yes we are. We've been useless (albeit entertaining) for years, and that's changing. COYR

The bright side in all of this, is that we are due for some luck. We have dominated all teams in this poor run, and just need a turn in fortune. Even teams that hoof it into the box score occasionally, and we are far better than that.

I also take heart in seeing how important Bertrand has been to our success. We have really missed him lately, and I'm happy we have him full time now.

    Chin up!

Very true SM. They say luck evens out and we are definitely due a large slice!

To be fair we've had a lot of luck prior to our bad run - a few penalty shouts turned down and good players skewing wide or scooping over the bar when it was easier to score, so perhaps we're just getting our bad luck.

I am mightily chuffed with this season but I do have the nagging feeling this is our one and only chance to dent to the top six - next season, when we will surely have another exodus [well I reckon at least three players going who we don't want to go, possibly four] the replacements may not hit the ground running and the fixtures might be very tough - too many years supporting Saints I'm afraid.

It's not the results or bad luck that hurts - it's the unremitting hope that is dashed...I so wanted that ball the fly into the Liverpool net on Sunday but with recent form I think they could have been still out there today with Liverpool at home and still not scored.

Ho hum, onward and upward - the much improved and harder to beat Throstles next - ulp!

Do most honestly think that all that will happen now is that we will drop down to 6th or 8th?
If we are good value for where we are in the league, why should it be assumed we are going to drop off and slide?
We are where we are on merit, the teams below are there on their particular merit, the same as the teams above.
The pressure is on it is true to stay up there. The difference is, we are not used to it. Where as the teams around us are!!
We have played all teams and got results against most so why should we fail on the run in? All surely will have dry days from scoring and yes there is going to be down days as well as up. Just let the team do what they are good at and we will be there or there about!!

Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City ..... the only teams to score more than 1 goal against Saints in the same Premier League game. 19 goals against in 26 league games.

Plenty to keep the faith about.

To get back on the straight and level, luck wise, it is going be very lop sided for the rest of the Season!

You missed Coutinho's goal then? Because that moment was the difference between the two sides.
