He's going to do the same as his mate, but he hasn't even been told there's an opening. The whole thing has just not been thought through in any shape or form. It's an shambles <doh>

  2. Worked at a factory for about a year, been in this job for the last thirteen. As my current work is community / charity based, I meet and work with loads of new people all the time but bar the odd few that I only briefly worked with, I never disliked anyone. There are a few distant contacts that are pricks but have not had the misfortune of having to work with them :) Maybe its this sector generally as nicer more caring people in it

So with no savings (correct?), he's bought a plane ticket for Guatemala in order to do an unpaid job that may not even exist? Sounds like a great plan. Hardly a great compliment to his relationship with Emily either.

He's taking 'some' money with him. I didn't indicate it graphically, but I did allude to the fact I wouldn't be comfortable funding it. Her mother won't be either.

It is in Central America, but the distance to where Bluff is is probably about the distance from here to Moscow so I doubt a little midnight tryst is on the cards, :)

  10. Yeah, I realise that, just didn't think before posting. Still closer to Bluff than here though

Of course, if he really loves her he could get on his bike....
Just another reason for her not to go.

Probably that's part of it, but you're also a really laid back type of fella, so I imagine it'd be quite hard to fall out with you <laugh>

I think the point I tried to get over was not to let other people [in this case, lecturers you don't like] determine your path. Lots of people choose not to go to uni for a multitude of reasons but if someone realised after going there that uni itself wasn't for them and they were utterly miserable or they were only there because it's what their parents wanted, then that's a valid reason to leave ... but don't let friends dropping out or lecturers you don't get on with stop you pursuing your chosen path. In life there'll be lots of people you don't get on with [unless you're Gerrez <whistle> ] or your best friend leaves work etc

Life's about rising above challenges not giving up and I'm sure RHC won't let his daughter give up her future on a whim. I don't fully go along with the 'let them make their own mistakes' argument either. Sure there's times you have to, but if as a parent your intent isn't purely selfish, like you'll miss them so don't want them to go away for a long time, which would be the wrong reason to stop them, then you have to be hard and try to stop them making really bad decisions. My lads have been all around the world to more countries than I will ever get to, there were no reasons to stop them for the purposes they were going but I did find several occasions to 'fight' the daft ideas of my lads between their 18-22 years.

I've only ever made suggestions to them, never 'told' them what to do. They've both done pretty well so far. I wanted them both to do science because of my love of it, but it wasn't to be.

    well done rhc.

    1. tell here it is not her job to "like" lecturers. it is her job to take whatever she can get in knowledge out of them and to ge ther degree. she can despise them all she wants. Kids seem to want to like or please teachers as a motivation not do anything for themselves

    2. its clear the joker is a tool now. so best thing is to have her sister do the work for now... you can't bad mouth him, prob neither can her mother but sisters have free reign.

    3. tell her she's no job, no room, no board over there only him so what's she gonna do?

finally love to know where she's getting plane ticket money from.

    this is the life lesson.

kids especially girls and young ones too (like 8-16) seem to NEED to love their teachers to succeed.

People must learn that to succeed in life they have to focus on what they are there for not to please others. You are there for a qualification not to go the extra mile to please a teacher. I've had this with maths teachers for example. they come home.. i hate maths... no you stupid stupid girl you hate the teacher... well tough..

when people work in an office chances are 50 to 75% of the people are annoying or whatever and a proposition of those will be rude, obnoxious or bullies. people have to get pas tit to earn thier crust.

Time for a wake up call for your 20 year old RHC.... she's going to a **** hole to at best clean up puke and change sheets to please a drop out. thats the best she'll do work in the same hotel right? she is transposing not liking lecturers so no pleasing them onto pleasing him but he booked his flight to go before telling her so thats a wake up for sure.

kids............... at worst rhc have the plane ticket fare ready for her to come home.
