Vic always steps it up when playing the 'big boys', He upgrades from Beast mode to HULK mode. He's got to start! and provided he's fit to do so, I'm 99% sure he will.
Could someone please give me an earthly reason why you would *not* play Vic (one of the outstanding midfielders at his role this season and a VERY big part of our defensive solidity). I for one cannot for the life of me think of one.
If you want to see this in action go back and watch the game against Liverpool on the first day of the season. Vic made their midfield look like children.
On top of which, absolutely nobody should ever be denied the possibilty of a Lallana-Bounce at any given opportunity. Just for that. Really, just for that alone.
Weird seeing us as favourites in a game against Liverpool, probably for the first time in my lifetime!
Find it hard to believe we are favourites to win this. Given our form recently I'm expecting a draw at best. I've seen very little in the last 4 games that would lead me to think we will start banging in the goals and until we see some change up front we are always likely to lose. Not expecting us to ship a hatful given our defensive record but 0-0 draws and narrow 1-0 wins form against a motivated and in-form Liverpool side has disappointment written all over it. I know, I know, not what anyone want to say or hear but who can point to anything that suggests a different result. We are all hoping that the break will do us good but I fear we need more than a week to recover from 24 games.
3 reasons: 1- We have had a nice break for the first time in ages. 2- This will probably be the strongest team we've been able to field for ages. 3- Liverpool won't sit back ala Swans n Hammers, this will result in a more open game which will us suit more. Oh and 4- When we play well, we are simply a better team.
For the record, Reed averages more interceptions and more tackles per 90 than Wanyama. I say this only to highlight that on defense Reed has hardly put a foot wrong this season, and an argument can be made that if the ball is being played on the ground he is every bit Wanyama's equal. I would play Wanyama for-- get this--- his passing ability.
Which has improved immensely this season. He also offers something more going forward. Harrison Reed has done brilliantly this season. If he continues to improve at the rate that he's going he'll be a first choice in midfield next season. I have no worries about him if anyone is injured in a position he can fill. Indeed, if he did start against Liverpool I wouldn't be disappointed. I just feel that Victor and Morgan together are the best defensive midfield combination overall because both can do the defensive duties and can cover for each other if one surges forward to aid the attack. And I think the attack is better backed up by those two. So at present, I think individually and as a pairing, their overall game is the best we've got.
Agree. Fingers crossed we are refreshed and play well. Thats enough negativity from me anyway. Will be hoping for a good result
This.......Reid and Vic both to start...unless we've got Morgan and Toby wrapped up in cotton wool somewhere?
Always a good sign if you see players, but these photos are taken during one period of training. Toby and Morgan could just be having their hair done. # hopefulface
