No excuses if we don't go through, our record against them has been horrendous, if we still can't get it right, then **** off seriously, don't want to hear no excuses from any fan if we fail to beat United.
The game being at Old Trafford might even be a good thing for us as it might suit our game play against them better as they're the home side, and this time we may resort to our new found tactic in the big games. If we play the Arsenal way, United will win, as **** as they are, they are a good counter attacking side and if you allow them to break at you, they will hurt you as we witnessed at the Emirates, but if you force them to play, as we have seen, they're not very good. We should force them to play, not us.
Believe me - I will be more than delighted to see Preston win tonight. But you just know it's inevitable United will win. As A87 says though, our record against them has to improve at some point because it really is utterly shameful at the moment. Can't keep bottling it against them forever.
Liverpool away would have been worse as they are in form and have the sort of players that cause our defence nightmares, we have a poor record against United, but they have yet to click and can been very disjointed at times.
ya liverpool away would be worse...but 2nd worse was for sure United away. So we are going there twice in a short time. Will be tough but we can beat them!
Nah, I'd be more confident of playing against Liverpool than United. We actually have a pretty good record at Anfield, whereas against United I think we've won like once in 15 attempts and haven't beaten them away from home since 2006. Every time we always think our fortunes will change against United, they always end up beating us. It's so easy to predict how the game will go. We'll dominate possession, create some chances and not score, then they'll hit us on the counter and we'll be left chasing the game. Then they'll score another one and comfortably see out the rest of the match. Of all the teams I hate playing, United are the worst. We have virtually no chance of beating them I'm afraid. But I would be ecstatic to be proven wrong. But unfortunately they have our number.
With Sanchez, Ozil, Walcott, Carzola we have some players that can cause real damage....assuming they are still in form when we play them
I ain't that interested in past records, because that's based on past managers and we all know, Fergie very much had our number. Liverpool's current style of play is the one that causes us all sorts of problems. They press high and have so much pace going forward. United will give us time to play, and it's up to us to take advantage.
We outplayed them at The Emirates and ended up losing somehow, so I don't see why you think the trend will change. I want to be positive, but I just can't see past United winning this.
Watching United play Preston, and they just look so disjointed. They are so ponderous on the ball, Preston are ****e, so they can't take advantage.
Exactly, we outplayed them, our failure was because we failed to take the chances we created (wilshere you ****), if we play them again, hopefully the chances fall to someone who scores more than five goals a sesson. Against Liverpool, I just can't see us outplaying them, just keeping the ball will be hard enough because Liverpool have been excellent at pressing high up the last two months or so.
Hmmm...I don't know. I just think that United have a psychological advantage over us whenever we play them. From the time they ended our 49 game unbeaten run (albeit with that ****er Riley's help) to ending our unbeaten home record for an entire year at The Emirates this season, they just seem to enjoy getting results against us. The fact it took us 95 minutes to score against a defence that had McNair and Blackett is pretty humiliating, to be honest.
United are not that good, BUT depending on the tactics, you can make them look good, that is if you play to their strengths. United have the players who can hurt you on the break, and they've practically always used this against us for the last years, sitting back, letting us have the ball, but then hitting us on the break. So if we decide to play like that again, i.e. the Arsenal way, we could end up losing AGAIN....However if we play to United's weakness which is so evident right now, and force them to play, and force them to create chances, find space etc, they will struggle, and we can then be the ones who hit them on the break as we are also lethal on the counter. So it all depends on Wenger, if he has finally wised up on how to play United, it's evident that our tactics against them has been abysmal over the past few seasons resulting in no wins, but if we change the tactics and play to their weaknesses, we can get something out of Old Trafford.
