I like to think it means raider, sounds better but of course you are right!!!

I've also just remembered that my dads brother moved to Nottingham when he was young - getting worried now!!!

We used to use a word called 'rive' as in 'be careful on that barbed wire, you'll rive your jumper'.

It means to tear something away or pull it brutally .......... to rive, for the Reivers, meant taking away cows or horses on raiding parties.

Here's a link to the Scott's tower we just visited .......... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smailholm_Tower

A lot of Scotts, like me, went to the Nottingham coalfields in the 60's onwards.

You would be if you kicked off, I think I'd prefer to chuck mesel out rather than wait for you to do it <ok>

I'm quite mellow now, a sparrow amongst the blackbirds, a man that sees the sun as an adventure and the stars as a delight..

It's only when you share you body i.e., 24/7 caring for someone special that you look at things different, especially when your own body is in doubt with this big C stuff. You might have to do the same one day, I hope not, I wouldn't wish it on anyone..

Time for me to go, calm and mellow Joe..
