Asked if he had spoken to Levy about possible targets, Redknapp said: "We had a chat. It's difficult. We are looking to improve and we need to. It's no good people talking about Champions League football if we don't improve the team, we know that. He's as keen as anybody to do that, but it's not easy.

"We have to make way with one or two going first, we are just a little bit overloaded in one or two areas, but if we can do that we will look to bring one or two in".

.. The article is to do with Spurs signing some high quality players to try and retain the services of Modric. Is Defoe one of these players that might have to make way. I've read comments from 'Arry previously saying he thinks Crouchie still has a future at Spurs, haven't heard him say the same of Defoe.

Get him signed Bruce, love to see him in red and white!

Krancjar is the one for me we want, still only 26 he has the most to offer although Defoe may have a good burning motivation to proove people wrong that he still has it, maybe a combined deal of Defoe & Krancjar for about £13 million then Welbeck back on loan would finish off our business nicely.

I don't know why but Defoe just doesn't do it for me so i would leave him, kranjcar on the other hand, now there's a player I would love to see in red and white

'Arry won't let Kranjcar go on the cheap. I'd love to see him join us though , if the price is right.

Was in the paper yesterday IBWT, that Kranjcar was complaining that Arry was pricing him out of a move with a 12m price tag? I doubt whether we would get both for less than 20m mate not 12m?

to be fair with Kranjcar I think he is worth around 8m and I see were Spurs are coming from they only signed him for around 2m so why should they let him go cheap because they bought him cheap.

I would probably rather have Kranjcar to N'Zogbia 2bh and a partnership of Richardson LB with Kranjcar at LM would be one of the best outside the top 4 IMO as for Defoe he would be a good signing but would rather bring in Welbeck again.

If this was to happen, I would bet my right arm that it would mean Gyan going the other way.

Richardson is a poor LB. Poor postionally and a crap tackler. Good going forward maybe but then who is going to look after the shop with both Krancjar and Richo bombing forward? Disaster in waiting that combination IMO.

Now before you all start shooting me down I appreciate that what i'm about to suggest happened in a lower league etcetc BUT

Gray and Johnston down the left was magical IMO, countered by Chrissy makin dropping in as an auxillary CB until Mickey G scampered his ass back down the line to reform banks of 4. Ricco should have the engine to get up and down, and any of Bards Oshea Brown playing at RB should be more than capable of filling in in an temporary back 3 till we get reorganised.

I'm not denying that we should look to strengthen our left hand side but it might not be in as bad a shape as we think really.

    Be gentle!!!!

Not forgetting the defensive mids job is also to cover if they full backs/winger goes wondering off, If Richardson goes on the overlap and the opposition move the ball quickly down our left then with a defensive mid in Catts they plug the gap till our players get back in position

100% this opinion. Why after all the crap that Richardson has given us over the years he has been with us, do people suddenly expect him to become a quality left back. He's shocking and if he was able to perform as a left back, then surely he would have cemented his place there by now. Quite simply he's a very, very average squad player.

    Krankie yes; Defoe no.

JD has two settings - **** hot & total crap. Unfortunately, it's usually the latter.
