[QUOTE="aswan_dam, post.

"IF Garry Monk succeeds in finishing this season with more than 47 points but ends up 10th then I predict another almighty conflict on whether league position or points gained is the better achievement."
What about the quality of the product on display? Isn't that also worthy of consideration,along with the overall points/position achievement?

If Garry could conjure a Cup win this season,then that would make his task,and those of his most ardent followers a lot easier,to swallow.

Unfortunately,however, ....

Too many posters who frequent this forum,now seemingly have little,or no,interest in how the team actually performs on the field of play.

Style,etc.,has been prostituted for points. Such is the demand for P.L. money.

No cup no question! End of.

[QUOTE="monks hero's, post:

"Give the man a chance to show what he can do in the long term of at least a couple of seasons,"

Hang on a minute. Are you now telling us that Monk WILL NOT be headhunted by Barca,or Real? This was a nailed on certainty not so many months ago,according to you,anyway.

So now we are stuck with him then? <laugh>

"I don't understand why some are finding every little fault with monk in the position we are in."

Compare and contrast this nonsense with the way you "find every little fault with" Laudrup,even though HE actually brought, a)success,b) international acclaim,and a whole plethora of positives,to the Club. <doh>.

If you cant see the difference between a manager who has yet to drop out of the top half all season ...(i should say his first season) and a manager who could not get out of the bottom half in his final season and only 2pts from certain relegation then how can anyone take you serious. <laugh>

Taking into account the dross that is now being offered up by The Swans',it makes me wonder why the paying public bother.

A poor performance at the Hawthorns with the Swans showing no cutting edge in the final third. Last season we beat WBA 2-0 away from home so we are now 7 points better off than the corresponding fixtures last season.

We are currently on schedule for = 49pts

According to some supercomputer in a dusty basement we're scheduled to finish 10th on 48pts. Here's hoping, but if Gomis isn't dropped we wont get 48pts imo.

I personally bother because I love the Swans & have done so, since about the age of 8. It's inside, can't control it, come rain or shine, good football or sh1te football!! To think I could be 'put-off' going, with what's currently happening on the pitch, is just not anywhere near, or will ever be on my rada!! The day I stop going, is the day I won't know about!!! After fourty years of supporting, I feel I know when the football was really sh1te!!!

Everyone of course, is entitled to their own opinion. I'm the paying public too, but I'm still bothered....

Out of interest. Do you actually go yourself??!!

If my life depended on it,I'd say 44 points,but,thankfully,my life DOESN'T depend on it.

Well in that case, don't comment on the 'paying public', as you don't speak for them...
Yet another moronic post from yet another small minded football fan. You really do need to get a life.

Just WHERE did I say/suggest I was speaking for them?

Perhaps I only attend AWAY GAMES. Ever heard of them?

Excuse me, don't you come all clever with me!!

At what point have I actually attempted to belittle you??!! (Moronic, small minded etc, get a life...)

I've got a life, which I live decently. No way do I need advice off you...

You really are a piece of work...

Yes he is like some poisoned dwarf on here, but most of us have his number, I think he posts from Cefn-coed, they do not call him the Vetchtable for nothing...............<laugh>

Lib supports laudcrap who have had the worst season in our premiership history who was sacked for dragging us down to just two points of relegation,
And he tries to disrespect Monk who had to step into the breach to save our club that earned him the right to be given the managers job full time and in his first season has kept us in the top half of the table....<laugh> you could not make it up if you tried.<laugh>

Thanks for that PGF, always good to compare to last season. But I am interested to see how this season compares to last in regards to the managers in charge. As many think we are doing very well, which of course point wise we are. But the point of many last time out was that Laudrup had some tough fixtures to contend with not to mention the Europa League, so hope you don't mind, but I wanted to compare.

Like you I will swap the teams out with those that come up.

(away) West Bromwich Albion 2-0 (3) vs 0-2 (0) -3
(home) Arsenal 1-2 (0) vs 2-1 (3) +3
(away) Southampton 0-2 (0) vs 1-0 (3) +3
(home) Sunderland 4-0 (3) vs 1-1 (1) -2
(home) West Ham United 0-0 (1) vs 1-1 (1) =
(away) QPR 0-1 (0) vs 1-1 (1) +1
(away) Manchester City 0-3 (0) vs 1-2 (0) =
(home) Newcastle United 3-0 (3) vs 2-2 (1) -2
(away) Chelsea 0-1 (0) vs 2-4 (0) =
(away) Manchester United 0-2 (0) vs 2-1 (3) +3
(home) Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 (0) vs 1-2 (0) =
(home) Burnley 2-0 (3) vs 1-0 (3) =
(away) West Ham United 0-2 (0) vs 1-3 (0) =

Laudrup = 13 points
Monk = 16 points

Not a great deal in it right now. Will see how he does between now and the end of the season.

These are the games left to play for Monk. How many points do you reckon he will get?

(home) Manchester United
(away) Tottenham Hotspur
(home) Liverpool
(away) Crystal Palace
(home) Stoke City
(away) Burnley
(home) Hull City
(away) Leicester City
(home) Everton
(away) Aston Villa
(home) Manchester City

Considering we have no cup commitments and how poor we were last season if you believe some on here, then I would expect Monk to get a minimum of 9 points. After all, his predecessor in this run of games managed 24 points. Monk already has 16, so should be easy for him :)

Someone on here has said Gomis is a great player and just needs Monk to find how to get the best out of him. The same person also said Pulis is a great manager and has got WBA playing well.
Monk has had Gomis for 7 months and can't manage what Pulis have achieved in 7 games, i.e. getting a want away striker scoring goals!
While I don't expect Monk to be up to the quality of Pulis I would expect him to cajole something more than we've seen from Gomis.

34 points and 9th place....in the top half all season....you dont need to know anything else....well happy <ok>

So what are your predictions? Surely you must be confident that your buddy Monk will beat Laudrup with ease?

I won't hold my breath, you won't answer, you will either fail to respond, or make an excuse.

Swan the way we are playing I can se 8-9 points from those. Cant see us getting much at all away from home, so 2 wins and 3 draws from the remaining fixtures. If we are lucky.
