Be honest, what is the first word or words that come to mind when you read this list?

Wickham
Larssen
Vaughn
Gardner
Brown
O’Shea

Yes I know we also have a striker and keeper to add but look at the list, is it...

Class.......Quality...Flair....Bottle..Grafter...Winner

The first 3 fit but the second 3 are what come to my mind, and that excites me. I just dont see a team with those in freezing against the mags, being bullied by Stoke, letting things slip second half. I just dont see me leaving the SoL complaining about being let down by lack of effort.

Yes I want flair, skill, quality but I want first of all the thing we missed of late, battlers and thats what the club have brought in.

Wickham.........Future
Larssen..........Crosses, yes
Vaughan..........Who does he replace? hopefully not young Jack
Gardner..........Goals from midfield, yes our best signing.
Brown............Bargain for 1m
O’Shea...........Good signing

in one word..........Improvement.

Agree, and I hope we add at least one more Big signing along with a couple of loanees. I just hope everyone settles in quickly and will be looking for a big improvement in our set peices/corners and our physical presence all over the pitch.

Outside of using Wiki or you tube, what the **** do you know about ANY of your signings?

Every one of ours, bar Ji Dong Won of course, is a household name in the EPL or the English game.

Yes, I too look forward to the derby game on the 20th too! Very much so.

Yeah, we've beeen swindled havent we? Lol

You lot just keep signing unknown foreign players with glass ankles and knees and we will keep filling our squad with proven EPL quality.

Great news that we have got them all and so soon in the pre-season - plenty of time to work out how to play together and with the rest of the squad.

With a couple of "surprises" left and SB's "loanees" comments - looking exciting (but the wheels will fall off somewhere along the line - don`t they always!!!)
 
Norwich fan in peace. I, like many City fans, have a soft spot for Sunderland and I have to say I'm a little bit worried by some of the signings.

Westwood is a good young keeper and should serve you well and I won't comment on the Korean bloke as I know nothing about him. However the six mention in the original post are cause for concern.

Larssen, Vaughn and Gardener all played for clubs that were relegated, yes they were the better players at those clubs, but I'd still be worried that they weren't good enough last year and now they're that little bit older.

Brown and O'Shea are on the slide. O'Shea never fulfilled his potential due to never really have a specialist position and Brown is in my opinion one of the most over-rated players I've ever seen. He's a good solid player but if he wasn't at Man Utd I don't think he'd ever have played for England or lasted this long in the Premier League.

Wickham is a great prospect, but nothing more than that at the moment. He wasn't bad at championship level and had good games and bad games and will certainly be a star in the future, but at the moment he's probably a championship squad player at best. Even the Ipswich fans were saying he wasn't good enough and shouldn't have won the Football League young player of the year last year.

However I do hope Sunderland do well next season (with the exception of two games ;) ) and I hope every word I've just typed is proved wrong.
