Guys we can go on and on with this. I actually believe it was probably the right time for ML to go. However, we can not put down the way he put our club in the limelight and the achievements he made at our club. I have to be honest and have enjoyed so much that ML did for us. We now have GM and in all fairness I am pretty happy with what he has done even though I hate the football we paly now. I didn't want him as manager and if I am honest I still feel that way.

The past has gone and we cant or shouldn't keep harping on about it. We are where we are now and we all should just get behind the team and leave the past in the past.

Do I believe that GM is the man for the future certainly not to me he is purely holding the reigns till we find the right man to bring us a good brand of football and the right results. That man will show himself soon and we will get back to where we should be playing good football and getting good results. Eddie Howe anyone.

monk is here for as long as he wants the job trunds or if he takes us to certain relegation like laudcrap did, so far he has proved he has the makings of a good manager and until that changes he gets my support and i hope it is for many seasons to come.....rookie managers dont come along too often or do as good so jinx has done a master stroke here in appointing monk...

Dai, my only fault with Monk is the boring football, I can not fault the points he has gained. I hope he is not the future as I believe there is better out there for us (and that isn't ML). It hits home when my 14 year old on says the same thing in 'daddy good results but the games are so boring.; maybe that is what we need to remain where we are. I would probably take Pulis to stay here (on second thoughts). I just think that there is someone out there who can combine both, making us hard to beat coupled with flare one touch football.

Dare I say it, but Mark Hughes hasn't done to bad with Stoke.
Monk has spoken a lot about attacking football the past few days. With regards to the style of play I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for another 4-5 games. Who knows, by the end of March we might be playing great football and very good defensively:D

Really don't see the football at home as boring. It's not sparkling champagne football by any stretch, but in my opinion is far from boring. At times, I think we've played lovely passing football under Monk. Really bad finishing has influenced the flow of our football in many games, early goals can really set the tone sometimes. Awful refereeing hasn't helped too!! Think it's easy to forget, how predictable, stale & stagnant the football could be under Brendan, Sousa & Laudrup, in various periods...

Mate I would suggest that if you think we are playing good football you are in the minority here, I am sure others will say if right or wrong. The football we play no is so boring I end up talking to mates rather than watching and on leaving nearly every week the comment is 'At least we got a result' I have to say if you think that we play good football you must have been watching Stoke on a regular basis. To blame the ref for our performances is a poor shout. I would even at the start of the year and in seasons gone by be in and out of my seat every 2 minutes. Now I must have super glue on my seat because I just am not jumping up and down any more.

Don't remember directly blaming refs, but their contribution, or lack of for our part, has not helped. Said it again, has not helped!! Again, haven't said good football, just commented we've still played lovely football at times. So maybe read exactly what I write before judging!! Football is all about opinions too, mine varies from yours.

Another thing, I've been watching the Swans for many a decade & I've never really seen them play like Stoke...

Maybe concentrate on the game more than gabbing...

Mate I have been watching us since the early 70's and have seen some **** on times and have seen some awesome football as well. Maybe if the football was good now I would concentrate a bit more on the football. Yes it is about opinions and I still believe the football we are playing now is the worst I have seen since before Martinez, I am sure there are people out there who will tell us if we are or are not.

Well maybe you should watch a bit more football then because when we are being out passed by the likes of WHU and Villa maybe at odds to what you think. Yes it is about opinions and mine is the football is at the moment is poor compared to what we have been blessed with in the last few years, but as you are sooo experienced you must be right and me wrong.

Fair response mate, we all look differently, but the length of time we've both been watching the 'beautiful game', or maybe it's not, haha!! Also time watching the Swans', we're both have good reason to justify a valid comment. I think we'll still disagree however, but hey-ho that's football & at least we're there supporting them in some capacity. Let's just hope some 'champagne football' returns sometime...

100% agree, with what you say but to contradict all hat if we all agreed then would it be boring. You think it is fine I think it is not the best. But the main thing is we both love the swans and ultimately we want the same thing.

Come on lads monk has not had a full season yet and cant be expected to get everything as perfect as he would wish. He is honest as anyone can be when he says he now has to improve our forward game. He has done a great job in defence and he has brought in some good players and one thing i like is he is not afraid to try new things. We have only played 24 games and used numerous players in various positions and that is not a lot to get the team playing as he wants. Not everything has worked and he knows that but he has managed to get 34 points so far and that is better than good that's good coaching. Give the man a chance to show what he can do in the long term of at least a couple of seasons, I dont understand why some are finding every little fault with monk in the position we are in because if we were at the bottom you would have a point. give the legend some credit as he has only had three quarters of a season as manager.....

Sorry, got that far and couldn't take you seriously.

'I dont understand why some are finding every little fault with monk', TBH the reason I pick holes is because his sycophants support him by ridiculing the previous managers and I find him duplicitous, unprofessional and his brand of football bores me to tears.
And, his comments about Sousa's team gaining success in spite of the manager will, like it or not, haunt him for the rest of his managerial career.
Also, when the club captain states he took satisfaction when the team, which I had supported for over 50 years, failed to gain promotion, I have to wonder about the reasons behind our fall away from the play off places under Sousa and for player dissatisfaction.
The fact the situation repeated itself under the same club captain confirms, in my mind, my suspicions.

    [QUOTE="monks hero's, post:

"Give the man a chance to show what he can do in the long term of at least a couple of seasons,"

Hang on a minute. Are you now telling us that Monk WILL NOT be headhunted by Barca,or Real? This was a nailed on certainty not so many months ago, according to you, anyway.

So now we are stuck with him then? <laugh>

"I don't understand why some are finding every little fault with monk in the position we are in."

Compare and contrast this nonsense with the way you "find every little fault with" Laudrup, even though HE actually brought, a)success,b) international acclaim, and a whole plethora of positives,to the Club. <doh>.

Absolutely - and I don't want him to be sacked because if he is it will be because we're about to be relegated. I will support the team and the players when we play (like most supporters I'll have moans about some players especially if I think they are not making the effort or are completely up themselves which is why I'll have more time for Dyer and Rangel than Shelvey and Taylor.) Even if we were to win the title under Monk I'd praise the success but still wouldn't give him the time of day, it's a personal thing.

One thing, this season I've been complaining we've been playing like a shadow Stoke City and today Monk acknowledges his debt to Tony Pulis. How often have we seen comments on this and other Swansea boards that praise what Pulis achieved (especially at Palace) but with the addendum, 'We wouldn't want him here.'?

Let's be honest, it's only Dai that thinks Garry Monk is the 'messiah' and there's only him (and possibly Dragonphill) who are extremely anti-Laudrup and I'm not sure Dragonphill is that serious. You and a few others are 'anti-Monk' and the rest of us sit somewhere in the middle.

I probably over-defend Garry Monk on here because a few (wrongly in my eyes) over-attack him and undervalue his record to date.

    And on it goes.

Yes, Laudrup won a cup for Swansea <applause>, something not achieved by any other Swansea manager and a feat which may not be repeated for ?? years. That was great.

IF Garry Monk succeeds in finishing this season with more than 47 points but ends up 10th then I predict another almighty conflict on whether league position or points gained is the better achievement. Maybe it won't happen.
