I think Piskie's a bit upset. Calm down dear, it's only a game. Which you lost. Badly.

Not at all, you won fair and square. I said that after the game. Facts are though, that Spurs fall way behind Arsenal in trophy count, NLD wins and would need almost two decades of finishing above us to claim any sort of power shift. <ok>

Maybe that's what you're getting upset about ?

HIAG can't ban anyone from anything.

I'm upset? Yeah, that'll be why I posted a big rant about how great my team is. Oh, wait, that was you...

Have you noticed that you're all turning into Scousers, by the way? You have my condolences. <rose>

  7. Indeed. So, as you can see, there is already a precedent for this.

  8. You are confusing "matching successes" with "a shift in power," PESKIE.

The power in North London footy either shifts or it doesn't. It can always shift back. If the power stays shifted for long enough, then we will match and/or exceed Arsenal's (rather tame) achievements.

As I say, though, I haven't made up my mind as to whether or not the power has begun to shift; only time will tell.

What I am keen to avoid, however, is any wumming on this thread; and, already, I getting a bit concerned that you are only here to wum, PESKIE. Everyone else (including me) has resisted the opportunity to wum. Please respect the rules.

There has been no power shift between City and Utd.
    Nothing to see in Manchester.
    Please move on.

    Indeed.

PESKIE still believes that United is the dominant power in Manchester.

And he wonders why we get fed up with "owning" him, time after time!

    definition of power

    power (ˈpaʊə
please log in to view this image
    )

    Definitions
    noun
    1. ability or capacity to do something
    2. (often plural) a specific ability, capacity, or faculty
    3. political, financial, social, etc, force or influence
    4. control or dominion or a position of control, dominion, or authority
    5. a state or other political entity with political, industrial, or military strength
    6. a person who exercises control, influence, or authority ⇒ he's a power in the state
    7. a prerogative, privilege, or liberty
      1. legal authority to act, esp in a specified capacity, for another
      2. the document conferring such authority
      1. a military force
      2. military potential
From time to time, Spurs have the ability to match Arsenal on the field, but would Spurs have the power to challenge for a top 4 spot as well as the Champions League ? How close are Spurs to matching Arsenal financially? (genuine question as I have no idea).
Politically, are Spurs represented in The Premier League hierachy? I know Arsenal are very well presented by Ivan Gazidis who not only holds a place on the FA Council and the Premier League Working Group but also sits on the European Club Association (ECA) Executive Board, which represents the interests of Europe’s leading 207 teams. He is chairman of the Legal Advisory Panel for the ECA, and is a member of FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber.

There's been no concerted effort for a power shift here by Everton since just after Spurs last attempt.<whistle>

Well seeing as you're miles away from matching our success you'll have to be content with the odd win against us here and there.

As for the shift, to give an analogy. I'd say it's likely that more people will vote Green in the coming election than they have before, so there will be a shift of sorts. But is that going to put them anywhere near the the main political parties ?

I guess small entities have to be content with small victories.

    Anyway, the facts again:

In almost every area you can measure, the spuds fall way behind Arsenal. League titles. FA cups, NLD wins, doubles etc the list goes on.

The spuds would have to finish above Arsenal every season until 2034 to claim any sort of power shift.

Also in that time they would have to win 11 league titles, 3 FA cups, 12 community shields and compete in the Champions league for 17 consecutive years to even draw even.

Since Arsenal won the double in 71 they have beaten the Spuds 46 times in the NLD compared to the spuds paltry 9 wins.

We all know that the smaller teams love a victory against their bigger and more successful rivals, so I'll leave you small time Charlies to revel in your 15 mins of fame <ok>

    So to clarify

Spurs are miles behind Arsenal in every department (apart from the odd result) therefore there is no shift in power?

As I said TC it's like a minor political party winning a few more votes but still being way behind the main parties. The difference is most of those smaller political parties don't claim that power has shifted their way. (Apart from UKIP maybe, but they are as deluded as the Spuds ) <ok>

You'd think that a Millwall fan would have a little more respect for the power of Spurs.
It's been keeping you out of the third tier for about a decade, for a start. <whistle>
We stop the loans for one season and look what happens.

<laugh> You're right. It's only 33 years since the spuds finished above Arsenal in consecutive seasons
