  1. It's great to see this debate heating up! Some great points being made, and no wumming in sight! Thanks, lads, for respecting the rules!

Ozzie, coming back to you on one of your many splendid points... What is very much ingrained in my psyche is that vision of Bendtner (when he was the Gunners' top striker) tripping over his own bootlaces in a one-on-one with the goalie, for what would have been Arsenal's one and only shot at goal, during their humiliating defeat at the hands of Barca. I cannot remember the whole stats, but Arsenal managed a magnificent "zero" shots at goal and "zero" shots on target that game. The consolation goal they got was scored for them by one of the Barca players. The reason why this moment and these stats are so deeply ingrained in my psyche isn't for any wummery purpose, Ozzie; it is because I can still remember the complete and utter humiliation I felt that night, being born in a country that Arsenal is based in. I still feel soiled by the experience, to this day.

All you've pointed out is that you've been rattled when the facts are laid bare.

<laugh> This thread reeks of small club mentality.

  4. I disagree, PESKIE.

If anything, this thread is soaked with Gooner desperation.

If it turns out that the power in North London has not yet shifted, and Arsenal manage to scrap above Spurs (yet again) by the skins of their teeth, us Spurs fans will have to witness the sorry spectacle of arrogant Arsenal fans celebrating like they had won the World Cup; but the truth will be there, deep inside the conscience of every Gooner - no matter how dense or stupid he may be - that (a) Whinger is well past his sell-by date, (b) your squad is no where near competing for the title, and (c) the future is a dark and dangerous place for AFC.

To be fair to the players in that photo, none of them were good enough to play in Saturday's loss.
Gibbs is either dropped or injured, Chesney Hawkes was benched and Ploddonkey has been shipped out.

  9. As PESKIE is always fond of saying, when you do stupid things they have a habit of coming back to bite you!

So the latest 'Power-shift' lasted a mere 30 mins of playing time. Spuds back below Arsenal again, where they've been for the last two decades <ok>

  19. There was a little bit of slippage, this evening, but the shift is definitely on. I watched that Spurs match, and we were the better side, away from home. 'Pool was lucky to take all three points. Arsenal, on the other hand, made a right meal of things to scrape a win against the worst side in the Prem, at home!

As things stand, we're only two points behind the Gunners, and we have got one of our bogey teams out of the way.

The shift is still very much on the cards (although, I wish to make it absolutely clear that I am not yet decided on the issue).
