Agree 100%. And neither is rugby all about big blokes running into each other. Last night, for example, both of England's half backs were tackling forwards twice their size, which is a skill, not brute force. And England changed their tactics in the second half, offloading as they were tackled rather than going to ground. Ironically though, the try Jonathan Joseph scored at the start of the second half resembled a drive in American football, except that the 20 or so phases they went through only took about 5 minutes. In NFL we would have had about 5 lots of adverts during a play like that.

But the best thing about last night's game, of course, was that all England's 21 points were scored by players from Bath.
There is a reason for breaks in the NFL. Yes one is so fat Americans can get more food. But also there is different teams in NFL (specialist, Defence and Offence) so they would need breaks to setup their next plays.

Maybe they should have this in football? Then we could bring on MLT for penalties.<ok>

I can't get into sports which rely on breaks in the play to arrange tactics and bring on specialists for specific plays. Sports should be continuous. Even cricket, which has plenty of time between deliveries and overs, insists that everyone bats and fields. I find American Football an interesting diversion but it's not a patch on Rugby Union. (Which, in turn, is not a patch on football).

Yeah the breaks aren't for some people. Even I thought it was crap, but decided to watch a game one night I have now been watching it for 8yrs. I enjoy nearly every sport (bowls being one I dislike big time), but like you football is still my number 1.

Rugby wouldn't be hugely helpful as you can pass forward in Quidditch. Some of the plays in American Football when it's the last moments of a game and they making multiple passes in a single play could be helpful though.

I think the reason why we won was because of our passing, we did lots of quick passing and interchange between us. It was 50-0 at one stage.

Wouldn't it be easier to stick the broomstick up your arse?

Not really.
