Okay, I'll bite. Personally I find the 'relentless off topic' threads really boring. Whether it's the word association thread, the joke thread , the music one or the latest incarnation that is the three word one I would damn them all to hell. I acknowledge that I've posted in all of these in good faith initially but in the main have failed to do so of late. I didn't think that they would ever last that long. There is nothing more so soul destroying that when you log onto our board and usually see any two of the above threads at the head of our forum.

Roller and I often discussed about closing them down, but didn't want to do so as being labelled as QPR Nazi's. The board seems to get upset if we act without their consent.

Personally I'd rather this be a QPR forum than a word, music or story one. However, I can appreciate the odd O-T thread that can be rather enlightening which does seem to give our board the un peu énervé which others don't. I feel that our posters will let us know how they feel about this. Some of the OT posts are fine as long as they exhaust themselves within a fortnight. But if they drag on for too long they should be snuffed out.

I too value the everyday posts about our team but as we all know, things can get slow when there are Internationals and so on ................... so, to have the everyday pick me ups from 'Kiwi' and alike, is what takes this forum from standard format to a friendly forum that many of us can find some relevance, weekly.
The little quirkie comments from regulars that on the surface, say little but in the context of the whole forum, make this forum what it is ............ a living sole.

That may be why we have the numbers, compared to other team forums.

Without want to upset anyone it is that tedious word association thread, the 3 word one is going the same way. What exactly is the point of them.
You have to be brain dead to find anything remotely interesting or funny about them. The music thread is interesting and good to see different tastes, music has been recommended that I have never heard of but enjoyed. The joke thread is excellent. Just get rid of that inane rubbish.

I'm the same. I never look in any of those threads. They're not my cup of tea at all. But that's not relevant because they're clearly other people's cup of tea because people post on them. Its no skin off my nose. I just don't go into them. To each his own.

Far worse, IMO, are Yappy's meaningless threads started up about every Mickey Mouse thing you can think of. Is there any chance we could amalgamate them all and have one Yappy thread?

Disagree, while hate crimes and ethnicity are one issue and racism shouldn’t be tolerated, I don’t see the issue with questioning and discussing atrocities and especially religion, what’s the problem? Some religious folk might get offended? Guess what I’m offended by what people do in the name of religion. I’m not on about what happened in Paris and the ISIS killings as that is not a proportional representation, however the oppression of women, homosexuals, etc.. is.

If it descends into childish name calling or worse isn’t that part of what the Mods are there for? And they act accordingly, of which we are all very grateful, but if we are not allowed to condemn the actions such as what happened in Paris, what is happening in Palastine and question some of life’s quandaries because it might hurt someone’s feelings because they believe in a sky daddy or the likes, well that’s just ****ing mental. I respect people’s rights to have a belief, whilst not oppressing others, I also respect my right to think it’s a load of bollocks and say so if the situation requires without repercussions.

Whilst obviously not all threads appeal to all posters (as if that could or should ever happen ) I don't see why you don't just scan quickly past these threads and not open them?

Having just lost my father to cancer less than 2 years after losing my mother to the same disease may I just add that in the last 10 or so days in the hospital watching him slowly fade away and the days since preparing his funeral that the 3 word story thread has helped pass away those long, painful hours and slightly brighten my mood for the odd moment or two.

There are far more important things going on in the world than moaning about 1 or 2 threads on an internet website that would be easier to just ignore than write new threads detailing how they get on your tits.

Just my twopennys worth and may I add I do not want to cause any bad feeling towards loveitupthebush, after all we are all R'ss

I don't follow the OT threads too much as I come on here to find out what is happening at QPR. I'd rather read 10 new threads about Adel a day than word associate. If I want to discuss the rest of the globe I go there when I can. But there's no difficulty leaving OT threads alone if they don't rock your boat, is there?. Exception is the great music thread, listen to that while reading R's when I can. Please don't move that anywhere else UTR! Great thread - should be the 1 sticky at the top for me..

I am sorry I have to disagree, we have OT threads and in it we try and discuss things of current relevance. Threads should not be closed IMMEDIATELY as they might bring trouble.. that is wrong

We allow free speech in this country, on this board..we trust that people do not abuse each other..things need to be open and discussed.

Imaz, I think if you're going to make accusations then you have to name names and actually present the evidence. As we both well know, you levelled that accusation at me some months ago, to which I politely asked for evidence. So disturbed was I with your accusation that at the time I read carefully through that particular thread at least three times and failed to spot anything racist in my comments. From memory, there was at least one comment from another poster than could've been construed as inappropriate, but nothing from me. We just have a different opinion on certain issues, but that doesn't make me a racist...nor does it make you tolerant. I had no wish to re-open this, despite your failure to respond to my requests at the time. But as you're now referring to 'racist scum' I'd like to know if you include me in that category and, if so, once again respectfully ask that you provide evidence to support this ugly accusation. If you don't include me in this category then please say so. This is important to me (as it should be).

Firstly - to Hoop Lief - deepest sympathies - keep doing whatever can make you smile in these difficult times.

Secondly, I think the fact that a lot of people say the don't like them except [insert thread here] means that they all hold something for the people that post on them.

Also, where it can be a big deal to new posters laying it all out on a proper thread (most of us can come across as pretty forthright except for me of course ), it's probably easier for some to get involved with a linked word or two (don't know if this happens or not TBH but it seems plausible).

We as mods have to trust that posters are old enough and wise enough to respect other peoples view points even if they don't agree with them, that is the whole ethos of a forum. The Paris thread was a classic example where after an initial closure because it was becoming a tad heated, it was re-opened to allow debate and remains open to this day.

If there are some posters that you do not like their views on certain subjects then put them on "ignore" and you will not see their posts, if there are any further racist posts then we should be made aware of them as obviously that is unacceptable......but you have to realise that the 3 of us do not "police" this board in any shape or form, we are not on here 24 hours a day and do not read every post on every thread. If you have a problem please let us know and that applies to anyone else.....
