Most of them were on your board tbh. They were the reason its a sensitive subject as no serious discussion could take place.
If you are referring to the ****tard that was Cpofl then yes. Some Liverpool fans got hypersensitive about things and instead of doing the clever thing and shutting the hell up, he decided to goad them and turn it into a fiasco......I agreed 100% with his banning, and hated the twat from Day One, as he would tell you himself were he around.

You posted an innocent comment in as a response to something he said, and he basically tore your head off with vile abuse and I called him out on it for being a **** saying it didnt warrant that response at all.
His problem was that as soon as he saw that you werent a chelsea supporter, he thought it fair game to act a complete ****....where as most reasonable and intelligent people can converse like adults with rival fans without turning into an adolescent tribal douchebag.
I 100% agree with Matth here. To make a jokey comment about a former Man Utd player dying in a plane crash on the eve of the Munich anniversary is disgusting. The story wasn't even a good story, nor was it remotely funny, so I don't see why he had to say it. It's funny as well that of all the Liverpool players that he travelled with he had to use the only one to have played for Man Utd as we'll.
Clearly Murphy was trying to take a sly shot at the disaster without dropping himself in it. I really hope something is done about this scum bag.
If the shoe was on the other foot, and anyone not just a Man Utd player had made a jokey comment about a stadium tragedy then there would be a huge backlash, especially if it was on the eve of an anniversary. The scousers who are on here defending Murphy would be going berserk if it was the other way round.

Aye I said before, given the date, and it being the anniversary of Munich, it was a very thoughtless thing to say....but I seriously doubt for one second Munich even crossed his mind for a second, now having heard the whole thing....to think otherwise is borderline Paranoid delusion

Danny Murphy must have known what he was saying. When you are working in the media for football these sort of anniversaries are big news stories, he would have known full well it was the next day.

Risk his entire career? He appears on talk sport a few times a week for a couple of hours at a time. He probably earns very little, and likely does it because he enjoys talking about football. This is a guy who played for many years in the PL and earnt a lot of money, I really don't think his career at talk sport means that much to him financially speaking.
If you listened to the actual story on the radio, he's talking the usual LFC bullshit about their destiny and such bollocks. Basically claiming that some of their players were 'fated' to win stuff, and thus that they will win the FA Cup as it's Gerrard's birthday on the day of the final.
Apparently Gerrard was 'destined' to win the CL in 2005 and Owen was 'put on this earth' to win the 2001 FA Cup. Therefore Owen couldn't die in a plane crash (a specific case of a plane that Danny Murphy was on that he was worried was going to crash) because that would stop him from fulfilling his purpose in life.
It wasn't in any way offensive, and nor was it anything to do with Utd or Munich. It was a ****ing anecdote. The fact people are trying to link it with the Munich crash, which happened 47 years ago, and not the Taiwan crash, which happened yesterday, shows how manufactured the 'offence' is.
Anyone claiming to be offended, please answer the following. How would you react if, on April 14th, Gary Neville turns up 15 minutes late for Super Sunday and says "Sorry I'm late, there was a horrible crush on the tube getting here".

I agree with you Bod except for the bit about "crossing his mind". As I said earlier, he's a football pundit, it's his job to know the timing and it's not like it's not some massive club that he wouldnt be aware of. I'm not really bothered except for the double standards as I know it would be considered insensitive if it was related to another certain club. It's those double standards that irk me. I dont believe his comments were deliberate...just stupid timing which deserves criticism only for that.

Don't really agree with you there mate. It's not like he went specifically out of his way to mention it - it was an anecdote that popped into a conversation. Was he supposed to turn around and say "I've got a relevant anecdote about Michael Owen...oh, wait, I can't say that as it might offend Man Utd fans because it's the Munich anniversary tomorrow. I'll tell you my anecdote about bad turbulence on a plane ride next week". The plane ride wasn't even the central part of the anecdote, the anecdote was primarily about what an arrogant twat Michael Owen is.
I can agree with you, to an extent, about the double standards. But as I said in my post above, if Liverpool fans behaved this way if an ex Utd player made some anecdote with an oblique relevance to Hillsborough, I'd tell them to stop trying to manufacture offence as well.

If anything it cheapens those tragedies when people try to bizzarely link every imagined slight as a reference to the aforementioned M and H tragedies in order to express faux outrage and rub their hands in glee at the prospect of a former rival player turned pundit being chastized, fined, made to apologise or whatever just to satisfy peoples vicarious offence.
Could he not have simply said "probably not appropriate considering" and just left it at that. Would have got a lot more respect for saying this. That all depends if he had the anniversary in mind. But considering he's a pundit something somewhere in his head should have rung alarm bells. We wore black armbands two days ago in the match. I'm not offended by that Murphy did it deliberately (which I'm pretty sure he didnt) or even the comment tbh, but to say there's no justification for saying it's insensitive or at least stupid considering the timing (if this was said 6 months ago I'd be with you all the way), is unfair when we extend the same courtesy elsewhere.
