Laudrup DID END THE 2012-2013 SEASON HAVING ONLY WON 1 IN 10 GAMES, DESPITE SAYING THAT HE DID NOT WANT HIS TEAM TO REPEAT RODGERS' EQUALLY DISMAL LAST 10 GAMES THE SEASON PRIOR.

Laudrup DID THEN ENDURE ANOTHER RUN OF 1 WIN IN 10 GAMES IN HIS SECOND SEASON, LEAVING THE CLUB FLIRTING WITH RELEGATION.

Laudrup DID LOSE THE DERBY TO CARDIFF.

Laudrup DID LOSE 3-1 TO CHAMPIONSHIP OPPOSITION WHEN DEFENDING THE CAPITAL ONE CUP.

Laudrup DID LOSE 18 OF THE NEXT 35 LEAGUE GAMES AFTER WINNING THE LEAGUE CUP, WINNING ONLY 8 OF 35 AND DRAWING 9. THAT'S 33 POINTS IN 35 GAMES - THAT'S A FACT.

Poetic licence can be claimed if one feels the need.

So, now Laudrup "flirted" with relegation.
Dear me,and there I was, convinced he had actually taken the team down.
Now where did I get that notion from?

The BOTTOM LINE is,no matter which way you cut it,Swansea City were extremely fortunate to have had Michael Laudrup,THE GREAT MICHAEL LAUDRUP,as it's Manager.

He brought style and substance to The Liberty and jettisoned the Club onto the world stage.

Swansea City became a household name ,BECAUSE OF HIM,not Jenkins,or Morgan,or the ballboy.
It's unfortunate that things didn't work out.
He may have been partly to blame for his demise,I don't know,and neither does anyone else on this forum.
Things took place away from the public's gaze, and I think in the end,he was just too big for the Club.
Jenkins could see that,and manufactured a dispute with Laudrup's Agent,etc.
Laudrup's loyalty to a man he had known for half a lifetime came into call,and the rest...

I miss him. The Club seems shallower,less significant since his departure.

Other opinions are available,and will be treated with the contempt they deserve. <laugh>

I think you'll find that it was Martinez that brought the style and Rodgers that propelled us to the world stage i.e. PL.

To an extent,I agree,those two estimable gentlemen did their bit. Yet they have both come in for terrible condemnation on here. Just as Laudrup has.

The pattern of abuse just continues down the seasons.

Laudrup's acquisition was the icing on the fine cake that already existed.

Other than Dai, I'd question where the abuse has come from. Yes plenty have criticised the performances, but I'd argue that Monk has taken more direct abuse from posters on here than ML ever has.

No, he didn't take the team down. But it cannot be argued that the club was 2 points above relegation when he left and were on a run of just 1 win in 10 games. The West Ham game, his final one, was classic second season Laudrup. Despite having a man advantage for 30 minutes, we never fashioned a single shot in anger. Limp and pathetic would have been adjectives that swamped this board after that match.

I'm very thankful to have had Michael Laudrup as our manager, but, unlike you, I'm happy that the time he left was the right time. The club was no longer wowing the world with beautiful football (as you rightly pointed out that we did), we were actually being criticised regularly for not having any substance and not being able to stop other teams impose themselves on us when he left. Despite that 'oh so beautiful' first 28 games and Capitol One Cup, Laudrup was then on a downward slope until his sacking. Undeniable. A record of 8-9-18 (33 points in 35 games) since winning the cup speaks for itself.

Swansea City initally became a household name because of Rodgers. However, we did get more global recognition under Laudrup, and actually, some credit must go to Jenkins for picking him as he would have known that his appointment would have raised global awareness on us. But, unfortunately for you, Jenkins' hand giveth and taketh away - albeit, without dignity.

I miss the Laudrup that won us the trophy. But the struggling ship that he was cast from was a shadow of the club, team and style that he took to Wembley 12 months and 35 league games before.

Opinions aren't "porkies".They are opinions. You can have your own,which may be polar opposites of mine,but they won't be "porkies" either.
You really DO have a problem with other people's points of view.

Most of what the team now serves up is not of a high standard.
People have begun to notice the difference.
If you can't see that, well,hey, that's O.K.
We have different outlooks and my expectations are different to yours,but neither of us are wrong.

You don't remember the abuse,etc.,that Martinez,Rodgers et al, have endured,admittedly after their departure.
In fact,most players have got it in the neck after leaving.
Sinclair;Gower;Pratley;DeVries;Beattie;to mention but five.
Just wait until Bony scores against The Swans'.
